New category + bug report

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

A question: I get into my mailbox daily this "MAME Action Replay forum daily summary". It doesn't seem to be very daily nowadays: A text file sized over 300K, including all messages since 2.2.2001. Earlier it had one day messages only. Hotmail inbox size is about 1000k. Is it a bug, or a feature?

Secondly(don't laugh me outta here), a request for a new category:Track&Field marathon, only for parent romset: tkfld- marathon. Settings would be: after last event-game continues, bonus life-none. =default settings, except no bonus lives.

(No pause? Only keyboard/hotrod buttons used,no joystick, nomouse, nofriends pushing 110m?-insert your opinions)

Not for leaderboard points, but for the fun of it, for old times sake. It requires skill to play a long game, there is very small number of players who can do it nowadays. Could be interesting, then again, could be not :)

What do you think?

Obviously I`d agree ,as there`s only a few players still interested in this game nowadays I think !

Game would have to recorded using TG MAME obviously...no pause. Although for the moment i`d prefer the INCLUSION of joystick , as my left hand fingers are rather ' un-fit '.

Like Tommi says...no leaderboard points , just for the fun of it ( and pain , if memory serves me correctly ).

With a no leaderboard provision, I wouldn't mind - if you don't mind your averages going down... GB9

GB9 , I for one , aren`t worried about averages . So lets include this mode. But insist on a TG Version , i.e no pause.

I once got 14m on this game without using the toilet , but with my alcohol 'problem '...ahem....this should be a challenge of sorts :)

I`d say this motion is passed .But which version and when ? I believe (?) the newer TG MAME version has some problems ?

Let me know as soon as you can , so I can whip Tommi`s ass...( whoa..be careful that Gauntlet dosen`t hit you....:)

Later,

Hmm this sounds interesting.. Even if my best is only about 7 or 8 mil:=)

But I have no idea if I can find the motivation to go on for so long.. but why not give it a try? :=)

Anyway it will be nice to se who will be the winner of you two!

Regards

QRS

ps Tommi:I like that Airport file you sent me:=) Ihave seen it before but I love it!! And no , I donīt have two hotrods :-) I borrowed a friends Hotrod for the last month in the deca, and right now I have no hotrod hehe.

Ouch! ;#

Yeps, TG version sounds good. I'm going to use buttons only, propably after first try won't be able to play for a week...

Wouldn't mind competing for lb points too, after all, 100? points will be *very* much earned from this one.

Now just someone add it AFAP!! Thanks,

Heh..

I just lost a game at 220k or so.....

I won`t mention which event.....

Hehe, I lost it 2mil later, at darn hammer... Would have gone to bed anyway. Took around 3hours, I think. I was out of form, now in over- form. I wonder how you felt next day after that 10 mil at arcade, not that it would be less painful using joystick!?

Any progress here GB9 ? I know your working those long hours , but can the ' marathon ' settings be applied to a ROM-Set ?

Cheers,

I can't split the games, Pat Laffaye, the regulation coordinator, has that responsibility. If/When he splits it, I'll most likely have to make it zero points through the python files. I'm not sure yet.

But to answer your question, I can't do anything in regards to actually splitting the games. GB9
