The most difficult part of building the system has been obtaining the registration pins, so start looking for them now. I eventually found someone in Perth, Australia (my nearest city) who knew what I was talking about, and they ordered them from overseas (probably USA).
Have a look at Lyn Radeka's site ( http://www.radekaphotography.com/ ) for examples of the end result. The site is what inspired me to try masking in the first place.
