Off season notes (from PurpleHaze)

Talks are off with Moss for right now. The Vikings and Moss' agent have stopped talks about a contract with the superstar. Moss is seeking to be the highest paid player in the NFL and apparently the Vikings are not as willing as once was thought. I don't blame them too much however and the thought of losing Moss at the end of next season is becoming more of a reality than what if. McCombs has said that if a contract is not done before the beginning of the season then they will not discuss it again till the season ends. If this is the case, watch for Moss to shop around the league for the best deal. Someone will pay him what he wants; of course it probably will be the Bangles.

In other news the mighty Moss played his first game of "pro" basketball and scored 7 points. Not a fantastic showing but it is his first game and I am sure he will get better. But I guess who cares. Moss should be concentrating on football and being ready to get the Vikings back on top again and maybe just maybe a shot at the elusive Super Bowl.

Also this week McCombs started his drive for a new stadium by telling the St. Paul Pioneer-Press that the team "made money in '98 and '99. We lost money in 2000 and we'll lose money in 2001 and ensuing years." McCombs has become more vocal about the stadium deal and with the Los Angeles market now open and his home of San Antonio still vacant of a team he has many options to use as leverage. Whether right or wrong McCombs will get a new stadium in Minnesota or the Vikings will move. So the question now is what do you think about this proposed move or tactic to get a new stadium? Remember the new re-alignment for 2002 has no effect on whether a team moves or not.

The Vikes better seriously think about trading Moss if they can't sign him before the season. We can not match the likes of Dallas and some of the other teams with more cap room, or we will lose him for nothing. McCombs has guaranteed they will sign Moss. A guarantee he has no business making. Might be just a ploy to get a new stadium. As for moving, WIN a SB and they will PAY. I will say this I am done with the Vikes and maybe the NFL if they do. GO VIKES!!!
