Nando TimesROME (May 30, 2001 03:23 p.m. EDT) - The Italian automaker Fiat recalled 70,000 Punto model cars Wednesday because of problems with the steering column.
The problem could mean drivers would lose control of the steering, it said. The company said the vehicles were produced and sold in Europe between Feb. 13 and May 21.
Fiat said not all the vehicles had the problem, but all of them need be examined.
