BP shuts 95,000 bpd gasoline unit at California refinery Tuesday May 29, 11:54 AM EDT

NEW YORK, May 29 (Reuters) - BP (BP) shut a 95,000 barrel per day (bpd) gasoline unit at its Carson, Calif., refinery over the weekend, the company said Tuesday.

The fluid catalytic cracker is expected to remain down for seven to 10 days, a company spokesman said.

"We shut the unit down because of vibrations in the main airblower turbine," he said.

The 265,000 bpd refinery is located near Los Angeles. BP acquired it when it merged with Atlantic Richfield (Arco).
