If you're a newbie or don't have the manual, you'll find these books useful as they explain camera operation and photographic basics a little more thoroughly than the manual. However, they're a waste of money if you understand the basics of photography and own the camera manual. Many of them are translated from German into English and need additional editing to make them truly readable.

I got out of photography in about 1987 and was really just a beginner but I understood basic photo principals and functions. In 1999 I bought a new Elan II and soon learned how far cameras had evolved. The owners manual only listed the functions and how to activate them. The value of the Magic Lantern Guides to me was that they explained practical application. If you look at the Guide compared to the Canon supplied manual, you will have to admit there is a whole lot more info in the Guide! For this beginner, the Guide was the best twenty dollars of the fifteen-hundred I've spent.
