To All My Friends.

Thursday's defection of a little-known Republican Sen. Jim Jeffords of Vermont bolted the GOP and became an independent.

Is this not tantamount to being traitor? Has he not betrayed a trust to his constituents and to his/our country especially??

Wake up America! This man should and must be SHUNNED! Declared a non person to be avoided forever. And that is my opinion!

Well, James, its a free country. If you want to preserve your freedom to change parties if you deem it necessary to do so, then you must also defend the rights of others in this regard. My take on this situation is that Senator Jim Jeffords has never been very conservative anyhow, and was actually perhaps doing more harm in the Republican Party than he was doing good. Keeping the party in power isnt nearly as important as preserving the conservative platform of the party. Because, if we lose the platform in order to keep in power, we may have won the battle, but lost the entire war.

I personally think that it ought to be illegal for a person dually elected to office to change their party affiliation while they are serving a term in a position elected by another party. If they want to change parties, then they can run for office and let that party elect them. As for Jeffers finally we have found the wolf and are calling him a wolf. Now if we can only search around and rip off the wool clothing of Senator John McCain. Then we'll be two senators short, you say? I say, big deal. With friends like them, who needs enemies.
