situation desired in Western WAgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
Greetings all! I am so glad to have found this space online. I used to check out the magazine a while back and have since inherited a computer so its good to know folks re online as well! I hope it is ok to make this kind of post here, as I saw a thred earlier about a position available, I thought I would put it out there that my family of 3 is looking for a place in rural Thurston in WA State. We would like to find an older homestead to care for and give life to, 2+ acres for a small business herb garden and personal veggies, and 1+ acre for a couple of chickens and the horse I've been longing for since I left KY. We have lived in WA for 6 years now and are looking of r sometjhing we can rent/caretake with the possable option to buy in 2 years. We figure word of mouth is the best way to find things so please keep us in mind if you or someone you know has a situation available. Warm Wishes Rebecca www.folksites.com/lostcreek lostcreek@olywa.net

Becca... Get out of Thurston County consider going 20 minutes south of Olympia to Lewis county your cost of living will go down considerably, I dont know how you manage the power bills in that county and property tax is double in thurston because its the capital county. something to think about.

Becca, I live in Snohomish County...to the north of Thurston (with King County in the way...)I don't know of any situations locally, but have you thought of advertising for what you want? Maybe in the Little Nickel? Also, there is a caretaking group (kind of like a placement business or matchmaker.) I think they are somewhere in E. Washington, address- wise, but as I recall, they place all over the west (or maybe the U.S.) I think Countryside used to have their ads in the very back. Might be worth checking out.
Good luck with your search. I have found that once one sets one's sights on a dream, one can usually get it, or at least come close!
