Real-life Knowlege Management metrics

Does anyone have any real-life, honest-to-goodness experience creating and measuring the value of their knowledge management systems? When I say knowledge management system, I mean more than the technology; I mean the holistic combination of the company's people, technology, processes, and culture that define their knowledge management system. No references to articles, please! I really want to know from your experience.

I undersand how to take technology, employee knowledge, customer interest, culture, products, orders and build an aligned practice to drive effectiveness (revenue in the best way), effieciency (minimize cost and do the right thing) through metrics.
