Nando TimesMEXICO CITY (May 22, 2001 11:22 a.m. EDT) - One person was killed and 37 injured when a light rail train smashed into the back of another train in Mexico City, officials said.
A 60-year-old man was killed in Monday's crash, officials said. Crews rescued all others from the wreckage. The injured were taken to area hospitals.
The train smashed into the back of a train stopped on a curve in the tracks shortly after 9:30 p.m. between the Tasquena station and the outlying district of Xochimilco in the southern part of the city. The cause was not immediately known.
