Canon EOS 30 and Sigma Lens compatibility

Hey Canon EOS 30/Elan 7 users!

I consider upgrading my current Canon EOS SLR set with EOS 30 /Elan 7. Referring to article “Important Notice For Canon Elan 7 Users” posted 11/01/2001 in Sigma's web page as Canon user I'm worried about Sigma lens compatibility with EOS 30/Elan 7 model. I had bad experience with Sigma zoom 28-105mm f/2.8-4 Aspherical on EOS 300/Rebel 2000 and EOS 50/Elan II. This lens had auto focus malfunction and I return it to the store. Together with camera upgrade I consider to purchase Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX APO HSM with 2x EX teleconverter and maybe Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 EX Aspherical DF as replacement of standard consumer Canon zoom.

Does anyone have any experience with Sigma "new" lenses on Canon EOS 30?

Thanks!

I don’t know about EOS 300/Rebel, but I have a 50E with Sigma 28 – 105, and I haven’t had any problems.

I have had excellent experience with the Sigma lenses.Very sharp, great contrast.

I have experienced compatibility problems - after every photo taken, the low battery warning comes on, with the result that I cannot make multiple shots in quick succession. I've yet to find out whether this impacts the actual photo, but I will be contacting Sigma in the UK to see if they have a fix.
