Love the earth? (Religion)

Courtrysiders: Do you love the working in hrmony with this beautiful earth? Most of us have been taught by our churches that all the good people go to heaven, but have you ever read Psalm 37:29 in your Bible? It says, "The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it." Wouldn't it be a joy to live on and work the earth without growing old and dying?

"The word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword." (Hebrews 4:12) If people would turn to the Bible they could learn to live in harmony. Why not read it tonight?

Haven't many people died, been oppressed and involved in wars in the name of God?

-- Dave (nohate@mail.com), September 30, 2001.

To Dave (nohate@mail.com): Yes, many people have died, been oppressed and been involved in wars in the name of God, but they do not represent the true religion taught in the Bible. Showing his opposition to fighting with carnal weapons Jesus said, "All those who take the sword will perish by the sword." (Matthew 26:52) And his apostle Peter said, "seek peace and pursue it." (1 Peter 3:11) Isaiah 2:4 also says, "They will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears." Therefore any religion that supports war does not represent God.

There are many wars in the old testament. Most of them were brought on by god himself. Like when he tells the Israelites to kill every man woman and child in Canaan. Except for the virgins, who they were to keep for themselves. Hhmm, wonder why he said to keep the virgins. As trophies or sex slaves? I guess it didn't matter how those virgins felt, as long as the israelites captured and 'kept' them, I guess it was okay. Interesting. Hey, at least the early Roman Catholic Church usually gave people a chance to convert before they slaughtered them. God didn't even give the Canaanites a chance to see things the israelites, (oops I mean god's, or was it the israelite's) way.

H. Ray its the same chuckle I get when I see the pamphlets that some religions give out when visiting :) There is the peaceful farm scene with the woman out in the garden etc. Sorry but to think eternity is digging weeds and fighting bugs and working day to night is not my idea of Heaven :) Give me a front row cloud to talk and listen to Jesus! To Vicki McGaugh: You say, “Sorry but to think eternity is digging weeds and fighting bugs and working day to night is not my idea of Heaven :) Give me a front row cloud to talk and listen to Jesus!” At Psalm 72:16, the Bible says, “There will come to be plenty of grain on the earth; On the top of the mountains there will be an overflow.” At that time, the Bible shows, nature will be in perfect balance and it won’t be difficult to raise food. One won’t have to slave all day against a plague of insects. As Isaiah 11:6-9 declares, “And the wolf will actually reside for a while with the male lamb, and with the kid the leopard itself will lie down, and the calf and the maned young lion and the well-fed animal all together; and a mere little boy will be leader over them. And the cow and the bear themselves will feed; together their young ones will lie down. And even the lion will eat straw just like the bull. And the sucking child will certainly play upon the hole of the cobra; and upon the light aperture of a poisonous snake will a weaned child actually put his own hand. They will not do any harm or cause any ruin in all my holy mountain; because the earth will certainly be filled with the knowledge of Jehovah as the waters are covering the very sea.” No animals of insects will cause any harm. So it will be a great place to live. Besides, wouldn’t you get bored floating about on a cloud for eternity?
