That kept students in school and workers inside the plant for hours. Hazmat officials and emergency crews were on the scene early this evening. They tell Eyewitness News this happened in a boiler in Unit Five at the plant Wednesday afternoon. There is debris covering trucks at the site. More than sixty workers were examined and hundreds of kids were kept in their schools for some time while tests were done. Several tests showed traces of asbestos in the air at the plant, but none near the schools and children were sent home.

Sixteen workers were evacuated after the explosion. One man suffered second degree burns and was admitted to the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
