Water Restrictions Spread

Several More New Jersey Towns Impose Regulations Eight Garden State Towns Now Imposing Mandatory Restrictions Dry Conditions Expected to Continue for Several More Days

(NEW YORK) (WCBS) Rain, rain, please come our way.

That's what officials in several New Jersey towns are saying these days. But forecasters say the dry conditions will continue for at least the next several days.

The lack of measurable precipitation has spurred officials in at least eight towns to impose mandatory water use restrictions. Roxbury Wednesday became the latest town to order its residents to reduce their usage.

The condidtions have also sparked a number of brush fires in the state, keeping firefighting personnel on alert.

Restrictions also are in place Florham Park and Chatham Borough in Morris County. They've also been imposed in five Bergen County towns — Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Midland Park, Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes.

Similar ordinances have been placed on some towns in New York's Westchester County. The village of Irvington has asked residents to water their lawn every other day.
