A peaceful placegreenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread |
I've recently graduated to using slide film (Kodachrome 64). This is probably my favorite from the first 4 rolls. Taken at a small little place called Bogong Village in north-eastern Victoria, Australia. Any comments appreciated.

Obviously, that should have been.

Good expsoure. Composition seems too centered; this is one time I'd recommend using the "suggestion" (not a rule) of thirds, or a similar technique to off-center the subject.

Make that "good exposure." Stupid cheap government keyboard.

Err... If the first thing that comes into one's mind on viewing a photo is "good exposure", this does not bode well for the picture.

Ok, how about cropped like this:

The first picture may be centered, but I prefer it above the second (cropped) one because the big rock needs that space around it I think. I like it - it really has a peaceful mood.

Agree, first image was better than the crop. Perhaps crop a strip off the top, or off the bottom. The focus is the rock, obviously. I would include either the water foreground or the lush background, but not both.
