Which lens hood for the EF 24mm f2.8

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Hi, the Canon web site indicates the EW-60 is the correct hood for this lens. However my local store has 2 EW-60's, a B & C. The C being longer and the B not very long at all. Will the C cause vignetting? Is the B large enough to help reduce flare? I would appreciate you sharing your experience on this matter. Regards, Jason.

According to info at EOS magazine, neither the EW-60B (fits the 35- 105) nor the EW-60C (fits the 28-80) is appropriate for the 24mm f2.8. There is even an EW-60D for the 22-55. Each hood is optimized for a particular lens, so just find a plain EW-60.

I have a EW-60 mark II (not B, C or D) on my EF 24mm f/2.8 and it creates some vignetting too!
