Thank you for your thoughts guys. Uncle Bob the flowers are beautiful. Lars, I'm a little confused by your link. Are you sending all us moms a Connie Francis CD? LOL I'd like to wish all the moms here a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY. Hope everyone has a wonderful day! The Girl I Used to Be

She came tonight as I sat alone...
The girl I used to be....
And she gazed at me with her earnest eye
And questioned reproachfully:

Have you forgotten the many plans
And hopes I had for you?
The great career,the splendid fame,
all the wonderful things to do?

Where is the mansion of stately height
With all its gardens rare?
The silken robes that I dreamed for you
And the jewels in your hair?

And as she spoke, I was very sad
For I wanted her pleased with me...
This slender girl from the shadowy past
The girl that I used to be.

So gently rising, I took her hand
And guided her up the stairs
Where peacefully sleeping, my babies lay
Innocent, sweet, and fair.

And I told her that these are my only gems,
And precious they are to me;
That silken robes is my motherhood
Of costly simplicity.

And my mansion of stately height is love,
And the only career I know
Is serving each day in these sheltered walls
For the dear ones who come and go

And as I spoke to my shadowy guest,
She smiled through her tears at me.
And I saw the woman that I am now
Pleased the girl I used to be.

Sorry about that first paragraph.

Debra--

I was trying to link directly to the sound byte of Connie's song Mama. My efforts were clumsy, my thoughts were genuine. To all Moms------ have a great day!

It may be a Hallmark holiday, but it's a good one.

Thanks for the thought, Lars. I KNOW your heart was in the right place. My personal preference is the Boyz II Men A Song for Mama. It's really pretty similar in lyrics to that song that Capn wrote for his mom once. I bought the single in CD form for all my kids [and a few copies for myself.] I LOVE it, and listen to it every Mother's Day. One year I even bought the sheet music and entertained the thought of asking a Barbership Quartet to sing it to my mom at the Assisted Living facility. I have a cousin on one of those BS Quartets, and they are asked to sing frequently for folks. I just never thought these guys could do the same job as Boyz II Men, however, and didn't think that my mom could appreciate moving from her love of Liberace to hip-hop.
