Vivitar 2x teleconverter

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread

e-bay currently has a Vivitar 2x converter for the Pentax 6x7 listed for sale. Has anyone had any experience with this teleconverter? Thanks Don

Don - I have had one for a while and use it with the 165 LS and the 600 mm lenses occasionally. It reduces contrast and sharpness, but is quite useful for emergency situations. I can't compare it with the Pentax convertor/s.

To be honest unless you have a real need for it I would not bother with it. I would make that remark about all 2x convertors and the Vivitar is better than some I have seen.

I have a 2X Kenko converter for my hasselblad and find that it is a useful extension to my 80mm and cost $123 or 1/10 of a similar zeiss 150mm. I can not detect any loss of sharpness in the center, but the edges are a bit soft-great for portraits. Get it and if you don't like it, sell it for what you paid for it.
