How do stream valleys and their channels and floodplains evolve?

gravity and erosion are the largest factors in this, water will always flow down the steepest path it can. Steam valleys form from the erosion of soil and rocks, the more force that a river has the more sediment it's going to carry. This digs deeper and deeper trenches. Channels form from erosion, sometimes the river may erode a river bank and some of the water will travel down the new path and the rest of the water will travel down the rest of the path. Flood plains evolve from flooding water.
