Ottawa CitizenRED HEAD, P.E.I. (CP) - Firefighters and ambulances rushed to a fish plant in this tiny Island community after it was rocked by a series of explosion Thursday afternoon.
Three people were believed to be inside a building off the main Mussel King plant when the explosions occurred. There was an unconfirmed report of one fatality and two injuries. Witnesses reported hearing one large explosion followed by a series of smaller blasts.
The building was adjacent to the main plant. It was apparently used for storage and as a repair shop for boats.
Up to 100 firefighters were at the scene. The building was completely engulfed in flames when they arrived.
