cranberry juice and apple cider vinegar work for me. Start my day with 1 1/2 oz of cider vinegar in a glass of orange juice and then make sure to take 8 to 10 glasses of water during the day. When an infection starts, use the cranberry juice by taking about 6 glasses.

Hi Irene,....I'm in the same boat for some reason. My homeopathic medicine book says cranberry is a great preventative but makes the urine too acidic when you already have an infection.Baking soda in water several times a day will help.If it persists 3 days, still see a doctor.I tried the cranberry juice and tablets and it made things worse(during the infection)but is a great preventative if you suffer from bladder infections chronically.ttfn

I used the cranberry capsules and they worked great for me. Went down a whole lot easier then the juice too!

I get a concentrated liquid from the health food store that I put in my oatmeal in the morning.

Yes, cranberry juice is acid and it will kill bacteria that line the urinary tract. It works quite well. You can find unsweetened juice in a health food store. If you are getting recurrent infections you need to find the cause, though. There are many herbs that are beneficial for urinary tract health.

I got this remedy years ago and its worked for me and everyone else I've told it to. Get canned unsweetened pineapple juice. it must be canned unsweetened. Drink one part juice to 3 parts water, about 8 doses of at least 8 ounces each over 10 hours. In 24 hours the infection will be gone (quicker than the drugs).

yep - it works... But, not to cure one, only to protect against it.

It really depends on where your infection is coming from. If it is something you are injesting, or a warning of a kidney stone, cranberry won't help all that much... If it is simply the urine chemistry, it will prevent the infection.

Active cultures in yogurt will also help. (as well as with yeast infections). It creates a hostile environment for excessive reproduction of the natural bacteria that cause the problems. That is also why cider vinegar works... It increases the acidity of the body chemistry.

At the risk of someone's wrath I have omitted my true e-mail--

be sure you urinate before AND after sexual encounters. Dr. Duke (herbal/holistic healing) recommends this.

Hi Irene,,yes!!!It really works. I have suffered with many BI,s until I finally did some research in my health books. As was mentioned, cranberry cleans the urinary tract and bad bacteria can't cling if drink cranberry juice daily. I just make sure to drink a glass each day (or 2) when I am having trouble and afterwards also. I drink plenty of water each day. I am a great believer in drinking plenty of water. It can make a world of difference in our health. Sometimes if a person is having a mild prolapse or a full one, that increases the risk of BI (bladder infection). So as we get older we have to be more careful.

Sometimes I find the unsweetened cranberru juice at a grocery store, but it is seldom. Natural food stores are better. Expensive though. I usually dilute mine a little with water.

Sure hope you get to feeling better quick. Don't hold off from seeing a doctor if not feeling better in a couple days. It can lead to much worse problems if not stopped. Let us know how you get along.. Take care,,,,
