INTERLACING/ DEINTERLACING QUESTION

What is INTERLACING/ DEINTERLACING?

When I capture AVI with Vdub & convert to MPEG, the MPEG seem to hav an "AURA" around moving objects which makes them look like GHOSTS.

Addtional info: - I use MPEG4 codec1 with Vdub. I tried using HUFFV but keep getting frame drops & the motion of the AVI seem to be a slow-ish - I use PAL settings - I use several MPEG encoders inc TMPEG, PANASONIC 2.5 & BBMPEG.

Whenever you use a capture resolution higher than the VCD spec (352x288PAL or 352x240NTSC), you will get interlacing. Either use the VCD resolution or use virtual dub filters to blend the interlaced fields.
