Kerrey Gored

Al's Hidden Hand

Al Gore's campaign liked to play up his military service in Vietnam, and it turns out Gore's camp also liked to play up Bob Kerrey's Vietnam activity. "It was our opposition research that was digging up dirt on Kerrey and was pushing the Thanh Phong story years ago," says a former Gore campaign staffer in Nashville, Tennessee. "It was out there for a long time. I don't think we had any takers. Gore was scared that Kerrey was going to challenge him. We wanted him out of contention early."

According to the Gore source, the Clinton/Gore campaign was compiling opposition research files against Kerrey and other potential Democratic critics and challengers well into the 1996 presidential campaign.

"We were thinking ahead to 2000, and what Gore might need," adds a former Clinton campaign and administration aide. "Kerrey was a big target."

The Washington Post's Howard Kurtz is reporting this morning that more than two years ago, Newsweek spiked the story of alleged misdeeds by the Navy SEAL unit lead by Kerrey. The magazine's editors tell Kurtz they didn't run the piece in 1998 was because Kerrey had decided not to run for president.

"This story was out there for anyone who wanted it," says the Gore campaign staffer. "We obviously weren't the only ones who had it. I don't know if our people brought it to Newsweek or not. But Kerrey can't blame us now." http://www.spectator.org/prowl/prowl010427.htm

sanny, are you saying right wingers worked for gore?

Dumbya keeps a low profile so that he doesn't have to answer for his sneaky corrupt maneuvers behind closed doors. He doesn't do press conferences because he has no good explanations for the really crappy things he is doing to the American people.

In other words he is a better politician than Gore or Clinton. And most important, he never got a blow job, at least not that we know about. Getting a blow job is the most terrible thing a politician could ever do, so we will continue to rant on and on about what a bad guy Clinton is, and Gore too, since he worked with Clinton. Guilty by association.

It close to the worst thing a politician can do, but dumbya has him clocked. The worst thing a politician can do is call a reporter a major league dirty word. Now that is the worst thing a politician can do.
