Burtn Cd's

Hi,

I've looked throught the older questions and it seems that some people say you can play burnt vcds in a dvd and vcd player and some say you cant, some say it has to be cd-rw and not cd-r and some say to burn to a cd-r cd.. very confusing..

so my question is

" Which cds can you burn to to make a perfectly good vcd to play on a dvd and vcd player ?"

Regards, Alister

Here's the short version. Some DVD players, notably Sony, do not support CD-R media. CD-R reflects at a different wavelength than DVD and some manufacturers aren't willing to put a second laser in just to support CD-R. CD-RW has a reflectivity close to that of commercially produced discs (DVD, VCD, SVCD) so some players that won't play CD-R will play CD-RW discs. Please go to www.vcdhelp.com and look for the Compatibility List of DVD players and what they can and can't handle.

Look for the Panasonic DvdRV-31 DVD player. It plays all media including VCD,cdr, and MP3...Great player.

If true, it's nice to know that someone in Panasonic has finally been slapped to his senses enough to allow such an event as a Panasonic DVD player actually now being able to read CD-R.

Hi, Iam not here for an answer but for another related Question. My friend who is using Apple Mac G4 with DVD/CDR burner and Toast Titanium 5.0 software to do the burning and use Mpeg1 compression for the video. This S/w does not let CD Writtable to burn rather it only use Rewrittable CD's to burn. Is this a problem with the S/w. Will other S/w than Titanium will let us use one time Writable CDr's burn the CDs so that we save on the Cost of the CD's.

Thanks in advance for all the inputs. Regards Kamal
