Does anyone know of organic methods for control of codling moths and apple maggots besides expensive phernome traps

Hi Dorothy,

My father sets out traps every spring on the fruit trees on the farm. His mom gave him the recipe. He is on a trip until the weekend but I will get the information from him and post it then.

I know that we use a one gallow milk jug, a hole cut in the side, and it has water, apple cider vinegar, sugar and a banana peel. I am not sure if there is anything else or what the ratios are. I'll let you know later this weekend.

Sorry for the long delay in responding. The ratio is one cup sugar, one cup vinegar (he said that he uses white vinegar), one or two banana peels and enough water to make the jug about 1/3 full. These are hung in the fruit trees before they bloom.

Hope this helps.
