Which Canon eos body and lenses ie,IS lenses or reg.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I am currently a Nikon user and want to switch to Canon. I researched the 1n and 1nRS last year , but stuck with my Nikon stuff. Since then Canon has come out with the Eos 3 and 1v. I notice that the price of the 1n has come down. I photograph mostly nature and sports. Which body should I be considering and which lenses ie. the new 2.8 IS lenses or the ones withoput image stabilization. I lso need to buy a flash. Where would be the best place to check prices? Thanks alot. Andy

How much do you want to spend? What lens lengths do you want? Zooms or primes? So many questions. :~))

The 1N is just as good as it ever was, but the 1V is better in most respects. The 3 is very good as well, but in there own price catagories so are the EOS 5(A2e), 30(Elan 7) and 300(Rebel 2000).

Not all IS lenses are f/2.8 and many of the others are very good too. About the only IS lens that has moderate optical quality is the 75-300 USM IS. All the others are very good to excellent. Canon's upscale line is usually indicated by an "L" in it's title. What isn't available (yet?) is a 70-200 f/2.8 (or f/4) with IS. Lots of speculation though.
