where is my suggestion? Let there be light?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

I came here looking for my four by four suggestion. Make four racing machines from a truck to a bike, each has to make a lap, then you unload the next three vechiles to do lap two, lap three is done by two vechiles, one carring the last vechile for the last lap. Each vechile is driven by a different contestant. It would be an interesting race, depending on the track size you could go for more than one lap.

OK I don't know if I've passed on this idea or not. Don't know if they can do it or not. But can they make a light bulb from scratch? How hard would that be? How hard would it be for them to make their own generator? Say the team who can make the brightest light bulb and keep it going for say ten minutes or in the even both light bulbs fail, the one that is the brightest the longest wins.

Not an overly exciting challenge but educational and difficult. I can imagine trying to make large jar into a light bulb. Seeing a contestant on a bike grinding out electricity

Hey Richard- I saw your 4x4 suggestion on the new JYW forum. (There's got to be a way to get there from here.) As for generators, it's been suggested MANY times before! See you on the new forum!

the generator isn't the big deal, it is making a light bulb from junk? I can just see a mayonase jar transformed into a light bulb. Don't you have to use special wire? And does it have to be nearly a vacuum? Just think it would be difficult to make but probably not enough work for a challenge
