Z,

I have never posted to that forum.

There are way too many nut cases in cyberspace for me to give give out the personal information required to obtain a password. Of course, judging by the general tone of your posts, you would never admit to being wrong.

And so it goes...

I'll miss the little critters, I really will. Tinfoil chapeaus and all. They've provided this veteran lurker many hours of intrigue, amazement, amusement and reflection. Truly an internet phenom, they were.

I will take your word for that. I have been here since the original forum started. I did support Diane at times and have been banned by Ed [from everything]. I have had long email conversations with LL. It has been quite a trip. I have a lot of IP's, but I don't make those public. It is the integrity thing. Who exactly are these "Cascadians" that I hear so much about? I just am overjoyed that people like them exist, even though I don't know them.

Here is their swan song:

Swan Song

I can give my own estimation. After all I have been here longer than most of these folks. Remember this is my opinion and it goes no further than that.

Based on my personal experience, Chuck is the most dishonest person that I have met [in real life or on the web]. Zog is an interesting person that I would like to meet. That goes for Pliney and PN. Much of the stuff that has been posted there in recent times is pure crap. It does no harm, since few people read it.

Please correct me on this but I could swear that recently, The Cascadians were outed as two gay men who live together in Oregon. I had always been under the impression that ‘Ashton and Leska’ are a hetro couple that are caregivers, in dire need of some caregiving themselves. Hard to believe anything you read on the Net so I don’t.

Z,

I appreciate you taking my word.

I agree with your disdain of outing. It appears as if some people can't distinguish between the internet and real life. In fact, it was my anger over some poster's call to Wisconsin's child welfare agency concerning Dennis Olson (and the fact that I also opened my home to two children), that have led some on this forum to incorrectly conclude that I am Dennis Olson.

Of course, now that you and I have shown a mutual dislike for the outing of posters, some self-appointed Einstein will conclude that you are me.

-- J (Y2J@home.comm), April 23, 2001.

Random thoughts...

* The evidence is overwhelming... Clearly Z = J. (By the way, Z, are you going to be able to make it to that Myrtle Beach thang in June? Also- as a kid I spent my summers at Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. Do you live near there?)

* It was interesting to watch the rise and fall of the Yourdon EZboard forum. From the distance of looking in on it but once or twice a week, it would appear to me the heavy-handed "Sysop Committee" was ultimately the cause of it's demise. The irony of that is not lost on me. It was also interesting to note the post meltdown comments over there about how smoothly things were running since the sysops had disappeared. Ironic how they finally "GI" now that their forum is closing.

* As a contributing factor to it's closing, apparently Ed Yourdon wanted his name disassociated with that forum. Wisest words I'd ever heard from him.

* I pretty much agree with what "Time Keeper" said above: "I'll miss the little critters, I really will. Tinfoil chapeaus and all. They've provided this veteran lurker many hours of intrigue, amazement, amusement and reflection. Truly an internet phenom, they were." I have never before, and probably never will again, see paranoia taken to the level that those folks were able to take it. Absolutely any topic could/would be turned into an evil conspiracy or "proof" that the end was nigh. They most definitely did provide a certain degree of entertainment value.

* Speaking of Cascadians/Ashton & Leska... Absolutely the funniest post I ever read on the original Timebomb forum was written by them. It was shortly after they discovered "chemtrails" [contrails] and they breathlessly professed how they were at that very moment being sprayed. One of them was out in the yard taking pictures of the trail while wearing his "full face mask" for protection. I felt that image was a great "Kodak Moment" and asked if I could purchase a photo of Leska pointing his camera at the sky while wearing his gas mask. Unfortunately, they failed to see the humor and I never did get my photo.

* For those of you who joked about Yourdon's forum closing... Shame on you. Have you no consideration for ToddBerg's feelings? Poor guy.

* Unk- With the closing of EZYourdon's and considering that school is about to be out for the summer, I offer two words for your consideration... "Cover charge"

Deano

-- Deano (deano@luvthebeach.com), April 23, 2001.

LOL Deano! I know what ya mean. Personally though, after having been on message boards for the last 5 or 6 years, I barely notice 'em anymore. It's rather humerous actually. They think they're being original or clever but they don't realize their exact same garbage has been posted on forums for years. And they're always the same; banally simple constructions, boringly interchangeable with each other and, above all, the theme never changes; "Pay Me Attention!" I actually get a kick outta ignoring these kids.

(Check this out, Deano. I'm about to lay one of my strongest "ignores" on this punk if he responds to this. It'll really piss him off. LOL)

By the way. About that gubmint shill pay... With Timebomb being officially dead now, I'm sure the check's in the mail.

''Ashton and Leska (The Cascadians) are man and woman, husband and wife. They follow a practice of celibacy in their relationship, which I believe comes from their spiritual practice.''

There was a link to a thread at maher's forum where they talked about being followers of some eastern pagan type of spiritual practice. They worship some yogi named maharashi paramanda or something and their ''bible'' is that bagdad gitva (sp). Ezboard is down so I can not find the link.

-- Inquiring minds (are on@nosy.ppl), April 24, 2001.

Nothing like speculating on sexuality and spiritual practices of others. :0(

The yogi in question is Paramahansa Yogananda. The practice is Kriya Yoga. The teaching to which the anon refers is the Bhagavad- Gita.

-- Rich (howe9@shentel.net), April 24, 2001.

Well it struck me as weird that they never said anything about it on timebomb. When they talked about religion it sounded like they were christian it never sounded like they were hara krishnas or whatever. I thought that was not completely honest of them as its a very different way of thinking about everything.

I knew that was not the correct spelling of their yogi or their ''bible,'' as I indicated by putting (sp). I am glad you are so much more intelligent than me and thank you for your italiced (sp) correction.

Damn, i'm sounding more blonde now than ever. :-(

-- sumer (shh@aol.con), April 24, 2001.

No, Sumer. Celibacy is a personal decision.

Hare Krishnas? Uh, no. Bhagavan Krishna is the main player, so to speak, in the Bhagavad-Gita. One need not become a Hare Krishna in order to study the teachings attributed to Krishna, just as one need not join a Christian denomination to seek benefit from the Christian Bible.

Are they Christians? What makes one a Christian? Love of Jesus? Membership in a Christian sect? A declaration stating "I am a Christian"? Reverence for the New Testament?

Perhaps you should inquire with A&L, anon. Always best to go to the source for personal information.

JG

-- Rich (howe9@shentel.net), April 24, 2001.

Are you kidding? What religion doesn't want its followers to breed like rabbits to provide more followers?

They said they were monastics. How does that square with being married? Well, I don't know the Kriya Yoga definition of "married" or whether it permits married monastics. They could be gay monastics. I don't know.

BTW, there'll be a number of anons here today. Ezboard is down while it changes servers and we're bored.

-- Z1X4Y7 (Z1X4Y7@aol.com), April 24, 2001.

Monastic refers to someone who lives a life of asceticism; austerity in appearance, manner, and attitude; living as a nun or monk. Celibacy is one feature of monasticism. Accreditation through a religious organization is not a requirement for living such a life.

Basic Terminology: A Yogi is one who follows a yoga path. Pretty simple, eh? Swami refers to a yogi who is accepted into a swami order and adopts the rules of the order, among them celibacy, as way of life. I don't know their status on this count.

As to communicating with A&L directly, they've been around a long time and I thought their email addy was pretty widely available. I did not realize they are now incommunicado, as I haven't followed TB2k since the summer of 1999.

As to any expected influx of refugees, welcome to Unk's one and all. It helps the communication process if you adopt a handle and stick with it, IMO. But this is a free-for-all, no rules except as Unk dictates. As he's normally passed out on the couch or under the dining room table, no rules have yet made it into writing.

-- Rich (howe9@shentel.net), April 24, 2001.

Since I've had the opportunity to speak to Ashton and Leska many times via telephone while a sysop on the other board I can say without hesitation that Aston is a man and Leska is a woman :) and yep, they're very, very happily married.

And, they have a deep, deep faith and belief in God which drives them to move as spirits and help the suffering and the aged.

They are GOOD people who gave much to help others on the old TB2K and the transplanted TB2K.

Take that for what it's worth...

-- Mike T. (mt4design@hotmail.com), April 25, 2001.

Get thee way far away, troll Satan of the unconstitutional "bank" sucking leech. After having been warned multiple times, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGIVEN by those who count for your disruptions here. May all the anguish, suffering, betrayal, and agony next year boomerang back onto the likes of you thousands-fold in thousands of future existences.

When a person dies, it is ordained that s/he must see/feel/hear/smell/touch/experience in sharp detail all aspects of all his life, even to every ripple of his actions and how it affected others. When your evil ugliness slams through every fiber of your being, that knowledge and akashic record will reverberate through your core, will be eoned imprinted, and will subtly miasma influence all you approach.

What's an akashic record?

-- Hell (if@I.know), April 25, 2001.

Yeah, it can be fun to bash people who are different, I do it too sometimes when I am not thinking. But if I had to deal with what A&L deal with every day, caring for a terminally ill person, getting to know them, seeing then suffer, cleaning up their piss and shit and vomit and god knows what else, then finally watching them die....well, if I had to do that everyday I think that I would be more than a little bit fucking odd myself.

Just a thought.

-- (what@a.sweet.bunch), April 25, 2001.

Well I looked up the Self-Realization Fellowship, which is the entity to which the Cascadians belong. SRF does indeed have monks and nuns who live celibate lives at the local ashram and serve the SRF community in various ways (i.e., keep it going).

From what I can understand, SRFs believe that Christ was just another guru ("Master"), like Paramahansa Yogananda and other gurus, such as the one the Beatles went to see, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. They also believe that God is in every living thing and if you can master the various stages of yoga (meditation, breathing, etc.) you will come to know God in yourself. You ARE God. It seems that the world is an illusion and God likes to play mischievous games with it. Reincarnation is a big part of SRF beliefs and the Akashic Record is a kind of cosmic rap sheet: the more you screw up, the longer you have to suffer in your various successive lives (which can be endless if you don't straighten up).

Admittedly, this is a very simplistic explanation but I had to wade through a ton of stuff to get just this small amount. You want more, YOU go find it. I've read enough.

-- Sweet (ain't@the.word), April 26, 2001.

I've read much of Yogananda’s writings and spoken with more than a few SRF monastics. They would not term Jesus as "just another guru". He was, according to them, an Avatar, a divine incarnation. One who exists outside the laws of cause and effect. His likeness sits on SRF altars. Jesus is revered by Yogananda and SRF.

Yogananda cautioned against people describing themselves AS God. The goal is to become one WITH God, to seek God within and identify God in all things. The Indian salutation Namaste can be defined as, "I honor the Divine within you".

The Sanskrit term Maya refers to the illusion that we exist apart from God. His Lila - cosmic play, refers to creation. I've never read anything by Yogananda in which he states God likes to play mischievous games. Would be very God-like, IMO.

I'm not terribly familiar with the theory behind the Akashic Records. My understanding is that it is the karmic accounts ledger of each of us. I've never seen the term referred to on the SRF web site, but it has been a few months since I was last there.

-- Rich (howe9@shentel.net), April 26, 2001.

this yourdon guy sounds like a real joker. Who is he some kind of dinosaur that can't get into the 21st century? Why is he putting up with neonazis? djsquire@indiana.edu?

-- (dude145@hotmale.com), April 26, 2001.

For those who are unaware, The TimeBomb forum was recreated by our friend Dennis Olson and now resides here. And get this, he stated in this thread that there are no bans in effect on the forum. How can that be?? I mean, if you don't ban all the "anthill-kickers" and so-called "troublemakers" at the outset, you'll end up with a New Debunkie House O' Trolls, right?? LOL

-- (oh@the.irony), April 26, 2001.

Thanks for the link to the forum of Dennis. I saw it referenced in another thread. I "met" Dennis online long before he found the Hyatt or Yourdon fora, and I still have a soft-spot for him. We never agreed on anything, even in the beginning, but we had a respect for each other's views. His views on life have moved far afield of that time, but I think there's a part of him that realizes that when one is surrounded by only ONE view, one can kindof get "sucked in" to that view without even realizing it. Then again, I'm a polly, so I tend to LOOK for the positive, even if, or especially if, it's not apparent.

-- Anita (Anita_S3@hotmail.com), April 26, 2001.

FWIW, I never intended or wanted to "host" ANY board, let alone TB2K. Regardless of what some of you think, the board was a gathering place for people who ultimately became fast friends. Many were heartbroken that their friends were to be tossed to the ether. I chose to help them get past it. That term, "friends", can hardly be applied to what some of you people create with the insane rantings that continue here, even to this day. (I hadn't been to this place in months, but I see that in many cases, the juvenile rantings and profane language still rule).

In any event, when I, however reluctantly, decided to give the board a new life, it was my clear intention to end all the hard feelings between the two Y2K camps. That event is frickin' OVER for God's sake. Time to get a life. Yes, many of the folks over there enjoy (that's right, ENJOY) talking about world-altering events. But IMHO, that's not nearly as infantile as some of YOU people continually bashing "Dumya" as you so quaintly call him. (He might be an idiot, but he IS prez, and he's a long sight better than Algwhore, who'd have had us at war with China after the airplane incident challenged his "manhood".)

The TB2K board is a CONSERVATIVE board. This one is quite obviously a LIBERAL board. No problem. BUT, after all the crap flying about in there these past months, and after the freakout of the moderator team, I'll not allow the board to be further victimized by those carrying grudges from here, or wishing to hurt others for "sport".

I welcome you all. There is no ban list. To keep it that way, all you have to do is abide by the rules on the main page. Do that, and you can stay as long as you like. Break them, and it's bye bye to you, for good. I respect many of you even though I disagreed with your positions. Some of you, I'll NEVER respect, but I'm sure that feeling is mutual.

The "new" TB2K board starts fresh, with no preconceived notions and no bans. Where it goes from there (as far as you're concerned) is up to you. No registration is necessary to post there. But if any of you attempt to post using a registered person's handle, I'll ban you immediately and for good.

I hope this little message gets the point across. I'm sure it will, with the grownups. The rest of you might as well not drop by. Your lifespan there will be quite short.

-- Dennis Olson (djolson@pressenter.com), April 27, 2001.

Oh, look everyone. Dennis decided to pay us a visit.

"juvenile rantings," Dennis? You mean like this one?

YOU are just a small-minded, sniping little jackass. High school is back in; why aren't you in class?

LOL

-- (Dennis@juvenile.ranting), April 27, 2001.

Dennis Olson was one of the biggest stooges of the Y2K Doomer movement. While I'm sure he's embarrased that none of his Y2K prognostications came through - I'm still waiting to hear his apology and explanation of how he could have gotten things so wrong.

-- Long Memory (ed@yourdumb.com), April 27, 2001.

Well good luck there Dennis, it looks as if you are doing fairly well already.

The ONLY problem I have is..... you come "here" belittling our roost and then invite us over to your house, with rules set in place. I for one am here because i enjoy liberty. It appears to me that your rules as your moderator/moderators are subject to change 'at will', your will.

Me thinks i'll pass. As for cussing you got some nerve. Jackass is cussing in the context which you used it.

And while I'm at it...Arent you the guy who tried to give the baby away over the internet? Or was that someone else? If you werent, accept my apology if you were, you are still a sick bastard.

-- sumer (shh@aol.con), April 27, 2001.

My bad, I followed the link above, you are the SICK bastard I was referencing. Giving babies away via the internet. SICKO.

-- sumer (shh@aol.con), April 27, 2001.

I just wanted to take a moment to welcome Data Junkie back to the (new) old homestead. Your presence was sorely missed, not only by me, but by many, many others. You will NEVER be banned here. Trust me.

The above was written by dennis.

Trust me, the check IS in the mail. The baby is on the net, and I betcha I'd be the 1st to get the dennis boot. ROFLMAO

-- sumer (shh@aol.con), April 27, 2001.

I'm the last person who would want to defend Dennis Olson, but if you read the post, you'll note that he wasn't the one to give away the baby, but rather the one who took in both the baby and the mother. This was truly a Good Thing, which even I have to admit, but that didn't really justify him acting like a complete asshole to anyone who questioned the wisdom of giving a baby away over the internet in the first place.

-- (Dennis@juvenile.ranting), April 27, 2001.

Wonder reckon how come nobody called Dept of Human Services to report that shit?

We spend time notifying gov officials and irs.

thangs that make ya gooo hmmmmmmmm

-- Marg (okay@cutaway.com), April 27, 2001.

Marg, go screw yourself. There, does that answer your question you annon bitch?

-- sumer (shh@aol.con), April 27, 2001.

sumer,

Question for you. Why do you and others get so outraged about D.O.'s giving away a baby over the internet but DONT get upset about Tarzan etc helping to kill babies every day? At least Dennis' baby would have a chance at life, the abortionists' kids have none.

-- Don't (understand@the.outrage), April 27, 2001.

So, it was okay to call Clinton, Klintoon, and to spout all kinds of unsubstantiated nonsense about him and Gore throught the last few years, but sad old Dennnis thinks it is a problem that people call HIS president Dumbya? How assinine. How ridiculous. The argument that Bush is the president, and that somehow should sheild him from criticism is so much wasted breath.

Dennis, do us a favor. Stay on your side of the fence, and we will stay on ours. Your kind of hypocracy is unwanted and juvenile.

-- Enlightenment (gone@away.now), April 27, 2001.

Wonder reckon how come nobody called Dept of Human Services to report that shit?

I thought the rumor was that CPR did just that. It's just a rumor though. He kept threatening that he would, but I don't know if he really went through with it.

Go easy on Marg. She's obviously upset that Iona hasn't been around in a while to give her some of that special "Goddess Venus" kinda lovin', if you know what I mean.

And for the Pro-lifer:

Some believe life begins at birth and ends at death. Some pro-lifers believe life begins at conception and ends at birth, the result being another useless mouth to feed and a drain on resources. It's all a matter of your point of view.

Sumer, yes, that answers my question, you are always a bitch and BTW...I'm not anonymous so apparently you are a BITCH who, either can't read or are a moronic bitch.

-- Marg (okay@cutaway.com), April 27, 2001.

'Sumer:

Dennis didn't offer up that baby for adoption on the internet. The folks that did WERE acquaintances of his, but even HE only learned of their need when he saw the post.

He chose to take in the teen mother after he saw the post. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with that. He may have agreed or disagreed with the whole posting thing. He never commented on it. Yeah...he DID go into a rage over what might happen if family services came to take the teen or the newborn away but I, personally, saw that as machoism.

Truth be told, he harbored the teen and infant until the family lost their Y2k fear and found themselves on more secure footing. Both the teen and infant were then returned to their family and life went on as usual.

I've not had the Y2k fear, but if I had, I might have had the same feeling. Perhaps to make this point, there are more reasons than 1 that I'm encouraging my draft-age son to pursue studies in Norway.

Hey Enlightenment, cheer up. TGIF and all that. The sun is shining and the weather is sweet... Maybe a short meditation on your handle would be beneficial. ;)

It never ceases to amaze me that a woman would not be able to spell the words menstrual, premenstrual, or menstruation.

Kinda scary

-- (cin@cin.cin), April 27, 2001.

Sumer, yes, that answers my question,

The question that still remains unanswered, Marg, regarding you and Iona, is which one of you wears the strap-on? I'm betting that it's you, considering that you are clearly the more masculine one.

-- (Dennis@juvenile.ranting), April 27, 2001.

I was one of the folks who called DHS and alerted them about the situation. I say one because by the time I called, the DHS informed me they'd already heard about it several times. The DHS told me that the home had been evaluated and the minor mother (who was barely sixteen) and the infant son were evaluated and removed for a short time before being returned to Dennis. I didn't do it to get anyone in trouble, I did it so that in case the mother was being pushed into making a decision, so that the father could have a chance to address his rights (because remember, that baby did have a father) and so that the baby wouldn't simply be auctioned off to whoever had the most preps without regad to whether or not they'd be good adoptive parents.

-- Blame it on me (anonymous@regu.lar), April 27, 2001.

cin, LOL.

Fwiw, I dont favor abortion to the one who commented on it. But a woman has a right to choose, that IS law. Would not be my choice but hey, who am I?

oh yeah i'm a menstral bitch...LOL...

Anita, I 'know' I'm hard on Dennis, but I was HARD on the whole internet ordeal. I AM glad the teen mom and baby got help, but at the same time, they could have looked into receiving help other ways than the internet.

I respect your view/opinion Anita, you are imho, the voice of reason to me alot of times.

I concur, it WAS a nice thing Dennis did to take her in. OTOH, the internet way I have a problem with.

Sumer is your address real?

-- Tarzan the Ape Man (tarzan@swingingthroughthejunglewithouta.net), April 27, 2001.

Tar: nope, but when i get home i can email you if yours is :-)

-- sumer (shh@aol.con), April 27, 2001.

It's an alias set up with my ISP. It's kind of tempermental, so if it doesn't work post a note and I'll give you another one.

"helen say that her children were not in imminent danger, and the dogs stopped when they were yelled to. Yet helen seemed to think her only choice was to kill the dogs. These confused and probably scared dogs were abanoned by the people they trusted, and then shot by trigger happy strangers. Talk about a bad f-ing day. " ..........--cin@cin.cin

It never ceases to AMAZE me that a woman, who supposedly has children..(can't get the nightmare picture of you 9 months preggers in a bikini at the beach out my head, quite the picture I'm sure.) puts an animals life before a child's.

Are you a single mom, "abanoned" by the hubby? But, seriously, I'm glad you have sumer, water seeks its own level.....

Kinda scary.........

-- Marg (okay@cutaway.com), April 27, 2001.

you [Olson] come "here" belittling our roost and then invite us over to your house, with rules set in place.

LOL. Nice observation, sumer. I picked up on that also. Somehow I get the feeling that as a moderator/sysop, Dennis would make even D J Squire appear fair and unbiased by comparison.

I'm reminded of the time Anita started a back-up EZ board forum. The first message posted to it was from Dennis and was a plea for her to ban someone.

-- CD (costavike@hotmail.com), April 27, 2001.

Oh marg, please please stop thinking about me this way.

I realize it hurts, but you are just too butch for me.

CD: Ya think that is good? Check out the newest thread he has graced us with...roflmao.

-- sumer (shh@aol.con), April 27, 2001.

Hi Marg,

I guess maybe you're new here so I thought I'd clue you in on the clueless. As you've already noticed, sumer and cin are the forum idiots. Ignore them. Everybody else does.

-- (Just@keeping.score), April 27, 2001.

forum idiot? oh damn, I at least had hoped to get a residence card by now.

i'm sooo hurt.

FWIW, I do enjoy your humor score keeper. :-)

-- sumer (shh@aol.con), April 27, 2001.

Thanks, Just keeping Score , I had that figured out when sumer called me an "anon bitch".She never posts anything intelligent anyway.

Gee, sumer, duh, what part of MARG don't ya get?LOL HAHAHAHAAA

-- Marg (okay@cutaway.com), April 27, 2001.

don't:

I'm also outraged at giving a baby away over the internet. The baby should be *auctioned* away. There's a good market for those things, which shouldn't be undermined so casually.

I believe that if only the baby-auction market were properly organized and regulated, there would be a LOT less incentive to have abortions. Why pay for an abortion, when you might make a bundle going through with the pregnancy? Just think, those who want and can't have children can have them (for the high bid, of course) and those who don't want them don't need to abort them. A win-win situation so long as the demand isn't filled.

And if we have a glut of babies and the auction prices are not cost effective? Well, we can always snuff 'em, the earth has too many people as it is anyway. Practical problems require practical solutions, after all. We don't need all this emotionalism clouding our minds.

-- Flint (flintc@mindspring.com), April 27, 2001.

Okay, we've got a healthy white newborn here! What am I bid?

-- Dennis Olson (djolson@pressenter.com), April 27, 2001.

She never posts anything intelligent anyway.

Unlike you, Marg, who posts meaningless insults as you wait breathlessly for Iona to return with the anal lube.

Who is Marg, where did she come from and why can't she get a grip?

-- Debra (Thisis@it.com), April 28, 2001.

Marg who is Marg? Since all I post is unintelligent anyways, I think she is a yourdon leftover waiting to get bent over by some unsuspecting female. LOL....

Not to worry, "It wasnt me" as Shaggy would say. :-)
