Eggplant

I decided to start some dollar store eggplant seeds in a flower pot because I was too cheap to pay $1.50 for 6 eggplant seedlings. Every durn seed came up. Now I have baby eggplant plants all over the place. Tell me, do eggplant need rich or poor soil? I cannot remember. I know tomatoes like rich soil, and peppers do best in fairly poor soil. I have some of each type of dirt here so neither would be problem. In fact, I have plenty of poor dirt. Some of it is better suited to pottery class than gardening. LOL Thanks.

Mine were treated just like tomatos with rich well drained soil and they did very well. The biggest producer of eggplant in the world is NJ, so I figured they should have rich soil. Good luck!

I always plant mine with the broccoli and the peppers. They do alright - the peppers love it, anyway!!
