Davidian Beliefs (Religion)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Freedom! self reliance : One Thread

Forgive me if this is already answered (Doreen, please delete if it is), Out of curiosity, what do the Davidians believe? I've heard some things, but I've heard they weren't true. Thanks.

I am far from an expert on their beliefs, but here's what I know...They believed that David Koresh was a prophet and annointed of God, kind of like John the Baptist. That the US government was the Whore of Babylon talked about in Revelation. I may not have all of this next part correct, but they thought that God would protect them from any physical attack if they were holy enough. Also, they believed in extra Biblical revelations...like add ons to the Bible, if you will. They branched off from the Seventh Day Adventists back in the late thirties or early forties and believed that they should all live together and have everything in common. So they formed a group and bought land and basically seperated themselves from society in many ways.

I don't agree with their beliefs, but they sure have the right to have them.

Yeah, they've got the right. And ain't it great the way Janet Reno protected those poor, innocent children? Get's me in a rage.

Hi. I feel like I am intruding on a very nice conversation, but, I do have a link you might want to skim through. Beware-it will alter your reality a stretch !

Unfortunately, I believe what is in the article. The man who wrote is has passed on.....it pays NOT to know too much, probably.

I hope that will enlighten you ? peace, Nan.

I'll check out those sites... Never knew they were that big!!

I can buy the Whore of Babylon theory - they aren't the only ones that believe that!!! Figuratively speaking, of course...
