Triple-A reports gas prices going higher and higher

Washington-AP -- Gasoline prices have been on a tear, and the Triple-A says they could hit record levels before long.

The auto club's latest monthly survey shows the average price nation-wide has jumped 15 cents a gallon since mid-March. In some places, especially around the Great Lakes, gas has surged by more than 25 cents a gallon in the past month.

And, based on recent increases in wholesale fuel costs, Triple-A says U-S motorists could soon see the highest prices ever at the gas pumps -- in the range of a dollar-70 per gallon, on average.

Triple-A spokesman Geoff (JEHF) Sundstrom says drivers should prepare now for spending a larger portion of the family budget on fuel. And, vehicles should be properly maintained so they don't use more gas than they should.

The saddest part of this is that, even if the pollution regulators removed all of the asinine, nit-picking clean-gasoline regulations immediately, the refiners would still not have time to adjust and provide enough gasoline for the summer driving season.

Get ready, everybody, to pay through the nose.
