I'm writing a paper on comparing SF to LA, and I'm discussing what it means to be "Californian" and which city best fits this description. I'm asking numerous people to get an idea of what the people who live in these cities think, but my paper will mainy focus on the two cities as they progressed throughout history. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! WHAT DO YOU THINK IT MEANS TO BE "CALIFORNIAN" ?

My family has been in San Francisco now for Four generations. None of them left the area for the simple fact that there is no other place like it on earth. I have to agree, I know work as a Concierge at a Hotel down town; and it never seses to amaze me what this "City" and its surrounding commuities have to offer. Not to say LA isn't a great place to visit. But San Francisco is aplace you call home.

Until after World War II, San Francisco was the only real city West of the Rockies! Even during WW II, movie stars would take the train from LA to SF to get some culture.

If you're a real San Franciscan, LA ain't no city at all! My brother's grandchildren make them SIXTH generations in the area!
