after looking over the test i am unable to figure out why volcanic activity on the hawaiian islands is caused because it is on a molten hot spot I thought that it was on a convergent boundary can someone explain this to me in more detail?

The Hawaiian Islands are formed by the Pacific plate traveling over a mantle hot spot. The Hawaiian Islands are not on a convergent boundary between the Pacific and Asian plates. This information is found in your notes from class as well as on the quiz that was given prior to the test.
