Landslides can accompany other geological events such as earthquakes (according to the substitute prof. we had) Earthquakes can trigger the debris to flow. The shaking of the earth causes the layers to become unstable and they begin to flow downward. page 237 & 238 of our text explain this and it also mentions liquefaction & how that occurs.

Yes a earthquake can cause a landslide because the earthquake causes the landslide material to become unsteady and the littlest thing like wind could cause that landslide to be released at anytime.

Yes earth quakes can cause landslides because an earth quake mixes up all the material in the earth and makes it unstable. The earth is stable before an earth quake it is hard for anything to make the earth slide when it is stable.
