cut by goat's teat

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

My kids are over two weeks old now. I just noticed one doe has a cut near one teat. She still lets the kids nurse. What can I put on this cut to help it heal that won't harm the nursing kids? I looked in the archives and all I saw was for goat pocks which I am sure this isn't, maybe baby teeth cut. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bag Balm- its used for cows, should work on goats. We use on rabbits feet if sore or cut. Sold in feed and seeds, etc in a green tin.

Bag Balm will definitely work on your doe. I use it all the time on mine. You can also use any type of body lotion for people. Try limiting the amount of time the kids nurse on her in order to give the teat time to heal.
