well, im no expert and don't claim to be but here are a few basic tips. Ya wanna get in time to the beat, like ie fast or slow. Start moving your hands, like pretend they are magnets and they like attract and repel each other. Make cool patterns that flow nice, a good way is t opractise in the mirror. They ya wanna get ure body in time a real easy move is to step side to side intime with the beat. Combining this wit hthe hand movements looks pretty cool

hey all, i been in the "rave" scene for bout 2 years and a kandee kid all the way, u want to know how to "rave dance" eh?, well the way i do it is, pretend there is an invisible ball between your hands like you are holding it, like 6 inches wide, and rotate your hands and your arms, like you are moving this ball every-which way, and never take both hands from off the "orb", sum people call this the "orb" i dont have a name for it, i consider it groovin to da beat, but if u do this right it looks super cool ;), good luck all u rave crazy kiddos and ~*P.L.U.R.*~ -FrAggLe

There is no definative way to (Rave) dance. Its true you dance to the music. If what your doing doesnt make you feel good and your worried about what others are thinking of you then try watching someone else who you think is good and kinda mimik there moves. After you think you got that down then alter it to how you want it to look and add other things you may have seen. Dancing in mirrors will give you bad habits, the little ball thing is gay and breakin is the shit. If you can break then why are you asking this question? Oh and by the way if you dont already know this Kandee kids are freaking idiots. The name alone says it all for em. They dont go to dance they go to take drugs and PLUR is like world peace it aint happening. Kandee kid and PLUR are the exact opposite of each other anyway. Well there you have it thats as much as i can tell you and thats all i was told when i started goin to parties.

-- Anonymous, November 25, 2001

You have to feel the music. If you're not into it, then your dancing won't look right. If you are into it, then people will notice and they won't look down on you. Try dancing in front of a mirror. Pick up moves from others at "raves". You will learn alot. It takes practice, but you'll eventually get it. Doing it sober is also a great tip. You can't dance as well when you are not in the best state of mind. Trust me...the drugs are fun, but they don't make you move. And glowsticks are a big NO-NO if you don't know what you are doing. Even if you take away the drugs from a party, the lights will still coincide with the beat, the music will still thump, and kids will still dance.

Also, screw Sarina Paris. Try listening to "Drowning" by AK1200. That should get you moving.

-- Anonymous, December 21, 2001

Alright, listen, I dont think im the best raver there is out there, but one thing i'll tell you is PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. Practice when you're bored, in the car, walking somewhere.. any chance you get. I find the best way to start to rave is to put a rubber band around your hands and keep your hands the same distance apart. Play follow the leader with your hands. That sounds messed up, let me explain... pretend one hand is the leader and the other one is the follower. Whatever one hand does, the other one does, so try it! Try smooth moves, or crazy waves, it'll loo

let me just say that if you just stand there and do liquid or orb sh!t or whatever all the time, then you arent dancing. you're just doing little annoying hand-jive stuff. if youre into that, try to mix in other dance moves with it. that looks cool. the point is to NOT care what other people think. just go out and have fun. a rave is a place where you shouldnt feel so self-conscious. its just fun. go crazy, lose control. this scene is about diversity, and whats so diverse about dancing like everyone else. let the music move you, and youll be fine

like Hayley said, if all you do little hand jives, it's not dancing. You still have to move your feet! Glowsticks are out!! Just practice-practice-practice. Don't just limit yourself to the "orb" dancing. The really good dancers that I know, concentrate on rhythem in their head movements, wrists, feet, everything. And none of them use glowsticks. I stopped going to after hours about a year ago but, I've been around the scene for 6 years.

-- Anonymous, January 01, 2002

listen up kiddies because me and hektic are the best rave dancers in the galaxy...we have been doing it since 1990.. in fact we probably created it... if you are a beginer here's what you do.....leave your pants at home all you need on is a pair of diapers... baby rattles in your hands and a pacifier in your mouth, stand in front of someone who looks like there on 6 hits of E (which will probably be just about everyone)and start shaking baby....trust me you'll be a big hit with the chicks...later ravers.

-- Anonymous, January 09, 2002

That is a load of horse shit. I have been in the scene since '98. As far as tips go, the best thing that I have on this page is watch other people at shows. "Rave Dancing" and Glowsticks....blah blah blah, that is Kandee Kid stuff. Grow up. You talk about Plur, and shit like that, buit if you are jumping around like a Meth addict, then respect is the last thing you are going to get unless you bump in to someone that is 8-up, and that ate like 4 pills before the came out that night. You want respect, make an honest effort. If you are at a real rave, people will help you out. Don't be shy. The kids that jump in the middle of a circle, and have an epileptic fit are the people that get pointed at all night. Here is a suggestion, find a feel for music that you enjoy...find a genre that u like. Personally, I am a break fan. That is what I spin, but I am not gonna say....ooooo, listen to this, listen to that. Find something that u like. Also, I would take a trip to Breakdance.com, under dance moves. Sure it is a BREAK SITE, and heaven forbid you extend your knowledge outside of "Raving." Keep an eye out under gliding. If you can incorporate Gliding into dancing...you will definitely be the center of attention.

geez jaded jaded people. ive been raving for 3 years, maybe that isnt long enough but i still dont understand why everyone gets pissed off at each others ideas.

-- Anonymous, January 22, 2002

THEY GET PISSED OFF AT EACH OTHER BECAUSE OUR "SCENE" IS FALLING APART BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO HAVE THEIR PARTY SHUT DOWN CUZ SOME ETARD GOT WASTED AND DECIDED TO DIE. WHEN "KANDY KIDS" DECIDE THEY WANT TO SHOW OUT AND ACT A FOOL AND HURT THEMSELVES ALL IN THE NAME OF "PLUR" - WHICH IS A LOAD OF SHIT, MAY I SAY - IT MAKES THE REST OF US jaded YES jaded RAVERS WHO HAVE COMMON SENSE AND SELF RESPECT - NOT TO MENTION ARE USUALLY COMPLETELY SOBER AT THE PARTIES - A VERY VERY BAD RAP. THAT'S WHY WE GET SHUT DOWN, AND THAT IS WHY, MY FRIENDS, NO ONE LOOKS AT A RAVER AND THINKS "GEE, THAT'S A GOOD PERSON". THEY ALL SEE THE NEWS AND THE SHIT WRITTEN IN THE PAPERS ABOUT SOME DUMBASS OVERDOSING ON E AND GETTING NAKED AND GETTING HIT BY A CAR - SO THEY THINK "that must be what all of them do." THEY THINK, "damn, ravers are real idiots..."

when in actuallity....... we go to parties to dance our asses off and celebrate and smile, and be joyous and free - and we do it all in the presence of a group of humans that move, and feel, the same way you, or i, or any raver at that, feels when they hear the bass drum kick and the high hats hiss......

SO YOU JUST KEEP THAT IN MIND, LITTLE KIDDIES, THE NEXT TIME YOU SEE SOMEONE BUSTING OUT LIKE THEY LOST THEIR MINDS - OR LOOK ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS WITH THE WAY THEY MOVE - IF THAT'S HOW THEY DANCE THEN LEAVE EM' BE. AS LONG AS THEY AREN'T DYING AND RIPPING THE SCENE APART AT THE SEAMS - YOU ALL SHOULD BE THANKFUL FOR THAT GOOFY LOOKIN MOFO'S DANCE MOVES - HE OR SHE IS EXPRESSING THEMSELVES THE BEST WAY THEY CAN - NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS

SINCERELY, another jaded raver

well i do want to learn how to rave, im all open to suggestions if you can help me out i'd appreiciate it, like tips on how to rave...i know all about music so don't worry bout that im talking about like moves and technique, just email me if u have a suggestion... thanks

-- Anonymous, January 29, 2002

Just practice a lot, practice. Use your whole body, hands, arms, legs, feet. You just have to put the rhythm in every extremity you got. (haha!) Anyhow, I like to use a mirror if I've come up with some move and wanna check and make sure it isn't as freaky as I think. Oh, best, best advice, keep your feet moving, every beat, move yo feet. And breakin' is totally the shit. I still don't got that down yet.

-- Anonymous, January 29, 2002

well i just became a raver and went to my first party last summer.and it took me a long time to understand what being a "raver" meant. raving is what YOU make it to be. you do drugs, hand-jive, or jump up and down, it doesn't matter. there are different kinds of ravers out there that are expressing themselves in different ways.so long as you don't ruin it for the rest of us. rogue

-- Anonymous, January 30, 2002

raving is easy! I have been raving for 13 years so you can call me the master of rave.I go to clubs at least 3 times everyday hehe.if you want to know how to rave. first thing first is your hands need to be flexible and to do that you need to make waves with your hands. keep doing that! when your finally good at it, your hands should create wave movements. Now have one hand as the leader and the hand follows it. the faster one hand moves and the other follow, that proves that your good so keep practicing. Pick good songs to rave too!!! and once you mastered the hands, bust in with legs and body. Follow this tip for yo beginners out there. Oh by the way, screw the orb shit and drugs. Its so gay!!!--- kevin(dj&professional raver)

-- Anonymous, January 30, 2002

Ok if your wearing white gloves candy everywhere and a god damn beeker hangn out of your mouth then let your hands follow each other and take atleast 5 hits of acid and 5 ebombs the dancing will come trust me. lol People that you see on the dance floor that are really good dancers have been doing it for years and probably are not loaded. I have been going to parties for quite a while now I think atleast that I am one of thoes people that you would see and be like wow. I can tell you this you cant tell someone how to do liquid thats the crazy part just watch people that know what there doing and watch how there bodies move to the music. I think good liquid dancers are just kinda mimicing the music. I dont even think about the next "move" it just flows. anyways I live in oregon and if anyone wants some dance lessons or wants to buy a video on how to email me and Ill send you a tape full of friends and I dancing and you can try to mimic the music like we do. peace, kid liquid/LSC

-- Anonymous, January 31, 2002

Raving is not exactly all about moves and technique and crud. If thats what comes naturally when you rave, fine. Just stay away from drugs. Drugs will screw you up. Its not real funny waking up in a jail cell and saying, "What happened?". then you all of a sudden remember and tell your cellmate "I got high at a rave party and prank- called the police and told them we had drugs. then they came. and then i wondered where all the drugs they had found in the bathroom cell with my name scratched on it came from.

-- Anonymous, February 02, 2002

Look .. "Rave dancing"? You might as well just say Ballroom Dancing. You make it sound like there's some proper way to do it. "Dancing" means different things to different people, there's no one way to do it. The whole point is to let the music move you. You're not better or worse than anyone else because of the way you dance. Do what makes you happy. And to those of you who don't like candy ravers? Gee, no wonder the scene is starting to fall apart, there's so much fighting going on from the inside. Stop worrying about what other people do, let other people be happy, for pete's sake. I have bright colored hair, wear bright happy clothes, and all. It's what makes me happy, and nine times out of ten, it makes others happy, too. Don't dump on PLUR, just because you don't understand it. Don't put blame on the candy kids, that's like blaming a certain race for an increase in crime, or something! It's just not right. I feel sorry for you people, who just can't accept that people are different. This world is a rainbow of people. Accept it, and shut up. PLUR to all my candy kids!

pretty Silly question, i havent been to a party in over a year, i guess im getting old, 23 now, been going sincei was 16, just not really into the scene around here anymore, but hey, i dontthink there's anyway to describe "rave dancing" like that other chick said, watch other ppl, see how they move, mimic acouple moves or somethin, music just gets ur blood flowin, you'll be fine. if not stick to breakin

-- Anonymous, February 03, 2002

the answer to the "how to dance" question is simply "feel the music!!!" if u cant feel where the music's coming from, the Music's point of view, your not gonna go anywhere- you have to be able to feel each moment.- getting into the music, will break inhibitions, enableing you to do What ever you Want! but you have to practice, u cant just try to bust out all hardcore, cause you'll look Real STUPID!!..lol, you have to practice!! follow your intincts- move naturally with the flow!! and if you want some greater insight- You can apply that same formula to LIFE!!!- think about dat!! 8)

take care- n feel free to email me, i want to hear from u guys! ok- bye!! -- sandra ~<~@

Hey I was just wondering what "candy dancers are"if anyone could clear that up for me it would be great!C ya

-- Anonymous, February 07, 2002

Ok bro, here's the rules: THERE ARE NO RULES. Just think of it as a peice of energy. It has any form, any shape, any texture, goes anywhere, but can't be seen. Only by channeling the energy through joints in your body can it be seen. It may exit your body & travel anywhere. It's kinda like what mimes do, but mimes are gay, they're supposed to be funny. The trick is to move any part of your body so it gives the illusion that something is going through you or around you. Use your imagination, just make sure what ever you do, the energy travels in rythem with the music. It's a lot like popping. If you really want to be a bad ass, learn gliding & mix it with other parts of your body. Dont forget to use your head in the moves. Glow sticks can start you out but I dont reccomend them. Mirrors can sometimes be helpful, but nothing works better then a good imagination & lots of practice.

i just started going to raves, my sister got me into it and I love it.when I first went I was nervous.once I was in, it was like, whoa, this is awesome.the true ravers won't care how you look, just do what's comfortable and it won't matter.if you want to be a kandykid, or just have your own style, that's cool.don't put anybody down for what they like.all this anger over stupid $hit is totally not what ravings about.the idea of PLUR is great, and if you believe in it, it can't do anything but help.for those of you that are talkin crap about it, what are you thinking. PEACE-LOVE-UNITY-RESPECT, you think those things aren't worth standing up for?that should be the atmosphere of a rave.you people have to open up your minds. luv to everybody...PLUR

-- Anonymous, February 14, 2002

I love Raving and all too, but all this writing is not enough to explain it all, can you people email me at icepick090@mediaone.net on how to rave and maybe even tell me a few websites and show me pictures? If so that will be great, thanks...

-- Anonymous, February 16, 2002

I was wondering what Plur is and why they call people candy kids. i know i must sound gay but i gotta find out somehow, right? Thanx

-- Anonymous, February 18, 2002

im sick of this shit, people dont die from e, they die from dehyrdration or overhydration, heart failure or polydrug use.i do take E, and it helps with visuals, enhance the senses, my openness, i lose my inhibitions and i just groove, i can bug hours upon hours, and i feel free...i think people need to chill on the drugs, and learn about what they are doing, kids are goin out taking massive amounts of X, and dancing, sweating and dying....even if your not on X you need to stay hydrated.i am the next generation, and ill be damned if the rave subculture falls apart before i get to live my dream.sometimes i feel i was born to rave, i know there are others out there who know what im talking about, as for candy kids and club kids, who cares, just dont mind each other, and dont be stupid thats all.... ne way stay safe, stay grooving and Peace Love & Ecstasy

HAS EVERYONE GONE MAD ??? ALL OF YOU PEOPLE CALL YOURSELVES RAVERS. THATS NOT WHAT THE SENCE IS. A RAVER IS FREE TO BE WHATEVER THEY WANT TO BE THATS WHAT IT ALL ABOUT, NOT WHAT EVERYONE WANTS THEM TO BE. THERE IS NO RAVER FASHION OR WAY TO BE. ITS NOT ABOUT DRUGS OR LOOKING PRESH WILE DANCING. IF THIS IS WHAT THE RAVERS NOW ARE LIKE, THERES NO HOPE FOR FUTURE RAVERS. RAVERS ARE NOT JUST ANOTHER SOCIAL GROUP LIKE THE PREPS OR THE SKATERS RAVEING IS A WAY TO LIVE YOUR LIFE, TO BE FREE FROM SOCIAL STEROTYPES. "YOU ARE ALL A LOST GENERATION"

Raving, it isn't about how to, or doing it right. Flow with the music, dont care about what people think you have to be yourself. And let the true essences of the rave control ur body...

-- Anonymous, May 05, 2002

I dunno how I started raving but its pretty easy once u practice it like 30-60 mins a day like me the only problem is u have to get glows sticks that last forever and Glow sticks that last one day for parties I didn't know there was glow sticks that last like forever so I spent about 80 bucks on glow sticks. Turn off the light get 2 mad light glow sticks and let ur imagination Run wild

-- Anonymous, May 06, 2002

House music is really good to dance to. Watch other peoples moves to get ideas but dont just copy everyone else. Try and change them to make them your own moves. And for all you nu-skool ravers, let me clear some things up. Candy kid = big fat pants, childish toys, plastic bead bracelets. Bracelets = candy.

-- Anonymous, May 09, 2002

ayyo i juz started raving, i can get out of my house and go to a party...i am only 12. I can just dew two rave things wit glowsticks. the unbelievably old figure 8 and this wav thing. Hey people ummm i keep hearing this word"--->Kandee kids<----" ummmm what is that cause it seems every one is hating them what the hell would some one tell me what that is please kewl thanks

-- Anonymous, June 10, 2002

You can invent your own moves just as easily as you can copy someone elses. If you don't know how to rave, but break, there's a lot of hope for you, because breaking takes actual talent, so raving should be a piece of cake. All you do is move your body, and don't be afraid to have fun. If you're new to the scene keep away from the drugs...there are so many losers that are high up on E, don't know what they're doing, and then die from dehydration. They will respect you just as much if you dance sober (which is so much better, physically and mentally), as if you dance on ecstasy. Not that I'm bashing those who take it...if that's your thing, and you're responsible, go for it. ^_~

Just remember, it's all about the music, and there should be lots of harmony and fun in it. Don't make it a chore.

-- Anonymous, June 25, 2002

as said by others just go with the flow, and practice. im not saying im the greatest raver but i like raving and as simple as it sounds the music is simple to get a good rythum with so just go on from there. as usual the drugs dont help you any. but the cool thing about raving is you make your own moves (or copy someone elses to a point) so no one can say your wrong. just dont give up.

-- Anonymous, July 03, 2002

i agree with irishgirl7 enjoy it and go with the flow p.s. DONT DO E!

-- Anonymous, July 06, 2002

Raving is a flowing dance and if you don't have rythm please don't try. You have to have some what of an idea of beat to do it. I'm not that good at it but my skillz of perking adds to the rave, so that makes me an OK raver. So once again peeps with absolutely no skillz keep out.

Hey all you need to liquid ("rave dance") is a neato bass and an imagination. If that doesn't work then har learn to twirl.

-- Anonymous, July 23, 2002

Howdy hoes ;D anyway.. I'm not into the whole rave thing yet but goodness me do I want to be! I've been wanting to go to a rave for a year now, but I'm only 14 and most around here (the scarce few!) are 16+. Anyway.. I have a question for you ravers out there. Rave dancing isn't just like club dancing is it? Because I mean, I've been to clubs here and I'd like to consider myself good at the dancing, but is dancing at a rave anything like that? I love techno, but I don't think my style of dancing right now really suits it!! Anyway, any blab would be appreciated!! xoxo kc

-- Anonymous, July 25, 2002

Hey I like raving too. But I'm not that great at it. If anyone has some tips or know how to rave and can teach me or know any sites that can teach you. Please e-mail me. My email address is the same as it is under this entry. MixMasterDee2000@hotmail.com Thnx X-DEFRAG

But I can handle it and always have a great party time..

i dont aggree with the people who say DONT USE GLOWSTYX or whtanot..some of the best dancers i know use glowstyx or photon lights, they just add options to your dance moves..i aggree the e tarded candy kids" in the corner just standing there waving the styx around like an idiot is not dancin..but you can dance wit styx...i been in the night scene for a year and a half...i still am learning new stuff constantly, i started by taking E...That taught me the rythem, and how to not give a fuck what ne one thinks..now im off E and i still love it all...My best advice is this...open your heart and soul to the rythem...and dance... if you do it right, itll come naturally

-- Anonymous, September 15, 2002

OH an d as for the people who are lookinging down on people who roll, probaly have never rolled.. Ecstasy will make it easier to dance...just be smart...do research, from personal experience if you dont take it to an extreme, rolling occasionaly at parties and clubs is so much fun, and itll teach you some of the shit you need to know...

JUST FLOW LIKE EVERY THING IN LIFE!!!!!!!1

-- Anonymous, September 16, 2002

I've been raving for about 5 years now and due to life... I took a 6 month break and just went to one on sat, it was called Project Smile 4.0, and I dont know what is really going on with the scene and all cuz becuz half the people there looked like they got PAID to go to a rave and ACT like ravers... Now I know that sounds strange but to you long term ravers, you know what I mean. First of all, I would like to say that I have NEVER gone to a rave without being "candy", and for those of you that are uneducated or ignorant... thats means dressing up in all the colorful clothes and beads, AND HAVING THE RIGHT ATTITUDE. Too many of you do it for the first reason only, cuz u wanna look cool or u think its pretty, or cuz its easier to express your homosexualness (I dont have anything against you guys) but if you cant follow up with an attitude of acceptance, respect, open- mindedness, patience, and generally GOOD VIBES, then YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A POSER, BITER, whatever you wanna call it. Ive been to 70 or so raves and I have seen it change. So I would like to give a HATER shout-out to all you fuckin E-tards that dont know ur own limit, fall all over the place, and think thats its OK to SIT on the fucking DANCE FLOOR (WHERE PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO DANCE BY THE WAY) and create your little E-puddles and massage each other and just blow your mind with glow-sticks... GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE SCENE BECUZ YOU ARE RUINING IT. And I think we all know what nationality these people are MAINLY composed of... hmm starts with an A and ends in SIAN... Hmmmmmm... Finally let me just add that of those 70 raves, 70 of them were DRUG FREE, so its possible people, peer pressure is a mutha fucker but if you cant beat it, then you might as well stamp the word CATTLE on your head and follor the herd... My time is up, so I give MAD RESPECT for those of you that respect the scene back, so keep giving cuz we can make a difference... Peace Love Unity & Respect after all... ravers are BETTER people! :)

-- Anonymous, September 17, 2002

Hey, Asian-hater, how 'bout showing us some of that respect and tolerance you keep talking about? I don't like people sitting on the dance floor as much as the next person, but c'mon, where's your "right attitude"?

And bear in mind, raving has it roots in Goa, which yes, happens to be in India, which yes, happens to be in Asia too, so give that some respect and be one of your "better people"!

-- Anonymous, September 17, 2002

hey kementari, I can tell you obviously didnt do your homework or you would know that raving... real raving as in real raves, started in england and the UK in underground night clubs. Go ahead look it up, do your homework, and continued to get schooled. As in having ROOTS... well heres what Eric Stein wrote in the beginning of his essay on the rave culture

"When one examines any cultural movement, it is always useful to examine the roots of that movement. It is the history of the movement that gives us some understanding as to why we are now. It is only when we first trace the roots that we can see the leaves clearly.

Rave culture can be traced back as far as you want to trace it. It can be traced back to Native American religious ceremonies. It can be traced back to the sixties Be-Ins and Love Ins and Acid Tests. It can be traced back to anarchist revolutions in Italy and France. It pulls energy from many different directions."

So what you said is like saying cheese comes from Africa. While it can...(said sarcastically...) everyone knows the good stuff comes from elsewhere.

Lemme clear that up, Im not an asian hater, but if they fall into what I described then yes, I do GREATLY DISLIKE THOSE PEOPLE, so does everyone around them that are trying not to step on their hands, feet, faces, whatever.

So kementari, I AWAIT UR REPLY! PS) Im blaxican, but Id like to know what you are, for political reasons...

I don't know much about raving, but I've been raving for a couple of months now and think I'm getting the hang of it..raving is all about letting the music move you and go wid the flow.

It allows you to not be so self concious and feel confortable around those jaded ravers who can be so negative. I have been raving for a year now and I love it. Another thing, Candy kids are not bad people!! Not all candy kids do drugs either, that's a stereotype, and sadly, it's just being passed on. SOME ravers are not positive at all to the "newbies" like me. They say we are killing the scene. But actually we are keeping it going. When they are older and married w/ kids and have full time jobs and can't party, we will be partying still and known as the old school ravers to our generation. Yes, raves are becoming too mainstream but hey, muzik should be enjoyed by everyone and everyone should have the chance to experience what we ravers do without being made fun of and put down. We all go to raves to have fun and unite w/ people who are looking to have a positive good time too. I go to raves to have fun, I don't worry about anything else and my stress is gone. I enjoy myself and everyone else should be able to do that without people spreading bad vibes. It's rediculous. It's negative people like that who really kill the scene. PLUR is something you practice everyday, and if you're a true raver like me, it's a way of life. I don't hate on anyone at parties except for the people giving others a hard time. Peace- make it a nice f***ing enviroment so people can come together in pure happiness, Love- be nice to everyone, send good vibes and make it enjoyable for yourself and others, Unity- be nice to people you know and don't know. Make friends w/ people becuz we all should be partying for the same reason and should come together. Respect- respect the people there, no matter race, age, sex, etc. whether you're candy, a bboy/girl, liquifier, junglist, or just plain you. Respect the scene and try to improve it so we can party for generations to come. Spread the word about PLUR and stay positive. Party safely and be careful! Raver for life! Always ->*destiny*<-

How do you 'Rave Dance' you ask? Well, im good ol' johnny rock n' roll, and just recently went to my first rave, thinking I couldnt be much more of a traitor to my Led Zeppelin/Black Sabbath roots. But once I stepped into the room and felt those stacks of speakers blaring heavy bass beats, all the moves just flowed into me. What is the point of dancing usually? To have a good time right? Im probly the worst dancer in the entire U.S., but as I was 'busting my moves', I had the time of my life. Just remember a quote from the move Happy Gilmore: "Its alllll in the hips, its allll in the hips" ^^

guys and gals e-mail me some good rave culture sites!

-- Anonymous, December 01, 2002

There is no way to dance rave style. Raves are perfect becuse there arnt any rules, you move how you want. True ravers will dig what you are doing any time. The people that are there just to be pimp, they dont matter anyways. Turn on some music right now, start moving. How ever you are moving when you do that is your version of rave dancing. Play around, if you see someone doing something else you think is awsome do it too, you cant copyright dancing 8)

As far a KandieKids or whatever, thats the people you may or maynot have met at raves you have attended, the ones that trade the little plastic jewlery and stuff, its called "candy" for some reason, they also commonly trade real candy. They are the ones that are usualy along the outside or away from the dancing part and they are just listening to music. I found these people are there more for time to talk with friends while listening to some good music, they arnt there for the dancing that much. This isnt a good or bad thing, some like to be there just to hang out some go for the dancing, to each his own.

For the drug portion of it, thats your decision. Some are anti drug while others eat pills like they are having dinner. Whatever, do what you want, its your body. Just rember surround yourself with people that you trust and know can care for you need be. I go with a few choice friends, these people I basicly entrust my health and well being with them. I know they will take care of me and I would do the same for them. IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO DRUGS, DONT BE DUMB. GO WITH GOOD FRIENDS, BE SURE YOU GOT A SAFE WAY HOME AND MAKE SURE YOU ARNT HURTING ANYONE OR YOURSELF AS THAT ONLY CAUSES PROBLOMS FOR ALL OF US.

Thats all I can really say, raves are fun, dont go trying to impress people, its usless, we dont care. If you decide to do some X, have it all planned out, nothing would be worse then the popo taking you home to mommy with pupils that are as big as nickels and trying to dig yourself outta that one, while high. Lastly have fun. PLUR is an intresting consept, its all about the people, atmosphere, music and drugs if thats what you want.

Have fun!

-- Anonymous, December 04, 2002

Well i've been in the rave scene for about 3 years and it's fucking fun and i love the music. As for rave dancing who gives a shit what you dance like just do it to the beat,if you know how to breakdance do it! have fun, if you do drugs be responsible and know your limit. some of my cousins and friends are old school ravers and they have been through alot and they tell me the rave scene has changed and it's not the same, some people just mess it up for others and that just sucks, i hope the scene gets better, just like before, when it was all about the MUSIC

-- Anonymous, December 04, 2002

Hey, I'm not exactly a raver, but I am what you would call a "rebel" I do whatever I want to and like what I like. I like the Rave idea. But unfortuantely, you guys do TOO much hating on each other. Keep playing around and you guys are going to turn Rave into another screwed up social group like the preps or the jocks. Well. That's all I have to say. Keep Raving, as long as you're NOT doing drugs.

-- Anonymous, December 05, 2002

If some of you had actually ever rolled and know what its like to look at a bright fluorescent light and be able to feel it with your mind and body then i don't think you'd be talkin crap about the drugs and the lights, unless you just had a bad personal experience. sure the dancin, hot girls, great music and great atmosphere is badass, but its the roll that makes the rave. When you're dancin just go with the flow and try not to look stupid. be safe and don't take anything that doesn't have a badass little picture on it.

-- Anonymous, December 05, 2002

hi. i randomly found this forum but thought i should say something. i'm a retired raver (upstate ny) since jan 2000 but i can still move really well in several styles. liquid happens to combine really well with popping... what u need to do to get good is watch good dancers. thats how u get the ideas to make your own moves. u take other people's moves and make them your own by evolving them into what u are comfortable doing. it is very important to be creative. and more important to get 'into' the beats. good luck. keep the scene alive for me.

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2002

nothing ruins a "scene" more than people who feel the need to object someone else's actions. i've been to plenty of raves, clubs, and house parties to understand where everyone comes from. whether it be people rollin off in one corner mesmerized by the beat, or sober people dacing FOR the candy kidz, whatever it may be...when i go to a party, we do something for eveyone, yet we don't even realize it. think about it...i used to be a big roller and i always appreciated the loud phat beats running through my system while i watched someone dance or spin lights. i play with glowsticks and quick lights too and when im spinning my lights, i don't care whether someone is watching me or not. im not going to lie, i still do get messed up off of alcohol and other things, but for some reason, if someone has anything to say about me, all i know is that im happy and they obviously are not. i will admit that i can't dance, and that i'm trying to learn how to (that's how i stumbled onto this page), but for now, there isn't one group of people that are better than the other groups. what really matters is having good friends, great beats, and a fantastic time. remember, we're here to party, not judge. Enjoy your life....

I know I will....

-- Anonymous, December 10, 2002

Hey!!!!!!!!! to you all 'ravers' or whatever you like to call yourselves. I just got into the rave scene and am LOVING it!!! I really don't think it matters if you could 'rave dance' or not. I mean will you not enjoy the party if you can't 'rave dance"? You went there to HAVE FUN right?! Sure it looks cool to 'rave dance' and all but who cares? As long as you feel the music, groove to it!! I just learned how to use the glowsticks myself so if any of you out there wanna give me tips, I would really appreciate it! Keep the MUSIC ALIVE!!!

-- Anonymous, December 20, 2002

I read every contribution added to this page and have a few points to add. First off, why does everyone think this is some kind of competition on how long they've been in the rave scene? Unless your talking about experience on dancing you have no advantage whatsoever over anyone else when it comes to being a better "raver".

Second, stop talking shit about kandee kids, plur, and even people who just sit there with white gloves or glowsticks.(that is unless their purpose for doing it is to be "cool") I personaly think its stupid if they dont know what their doing but what is that supposed to mean anyways. They just think it looks cool and are having fun. Stop and take a look at whose having a better time while you and your friends are talking shit about the kid waving the glowsticks around. As for Kandee kids, who the fuck cares if they're not all grown up and mature. Maybe they are outside of the rave but they just want to release and have fun like they could as a child inside. That is what it's supposed to be about let's not forget. Main point: IF YOU DONT LIKE WHAT SOMEONE IS DOING IN A RAVE, IGNORE.

Another thing that kinda pisses me off is people who say there is no "right way to dance" all the time. Some forms of moving look more stimulating to human eyes, and i do agree that none is better than another, but the dude is just looking for tips. Once again take a look at what your saying and you might find that your the same as peole who are trying to be cool or a good "raver". If you think a "raver" is someone who says theres no right way to do things you might be right, but stop saying it all the time to look good and stop trying so hard. the guy just wants tips on a certain way of dancing and if your good at it, then give him your input. Also, if someone just sits there with a light in one position while giving a lightshow, not stimulating the reciever, then he is doing something wrong. This means, ladies and gentlmen, that there is a right way to give lightshows and some are better than others.(i consider them dancing and if you dont then disreguard that point)

Basically what i'm trying to say is; everyone needs to stop caring about what other people are doing in raves. Again if you dont like something, ignore it. Have fun, be safe, and just let go. If your thing is just wiggling glowsticks around, go ahead and do it if you think it looks cool, just dont try to BE cool by doing it. If you like to go trade kandee and meet new people while traveling back to childhood days when you watched carebares and smurfs, right on. I wrote this not specificaly about the origional question posted and i'm sorry for that but i felt the need for input and critisizm. Its also 4 in the morning so dont be mad about the grammar and if this doesnt make sense, thats my exuse.

Comments on my ideas are greatly appreciated and if you dont agree with me let us know how you feel.

~Peace - Love - Unity - Respect~

Everybody has to learn how to "Rave" in there own way. i personally think that liquid is the hardest thing to learn, but glowsticks are easy... start with glow sticks until you get in the groove. then try white gloves with a black light, it will give the same effect as glow sticks but you will be able to learn liquid easier. P.L.U.R

Geezus!! whats wrong with you people! I look at this post to hopefully find some answers at how to dance at a fudgin rave (if there's even a certain way to dance) but all i see is complaining and hate! you guys are starting to make social groups and forming social barriers even at a damn party! plz dont make it like another school society where preps, goths, "azn's", and others people have be seperated from each other.

-- Anonymous, January 04, 2003

First of all I will address the original question. When you liquid, you want your body movements to look smooth(like liquid =P), get a feel for the rythm of the music and stick to a beat. While you're practicing in your bedroom, turn up a good ol house song, and start with this basic movement; interlock your fingers and hold your arms out about 6 inches in front of you. Close your eyes and feel the music. Try to roll your arms as if they were waves, continiously. Once you can do this smoothly, unlock your fingers. Try doing the same thing, but with the top of your left hand right below the palm of your right hand, or vice versa. That's pretty basic, pretty much just to get you started. So, once you have that nailed, move your arms around, do different things.. Obviously there is more to dancing then that, but I think that should help.

OH, by the way, kenji.. Go to www.houseofrave.com and download some of their liquid video clips. That way you can see some people who know what their doing, it should help also.

NOW, I WANTED TO CLEAR THIS UP. For the not-so-nice person up there that classifies all kids that wear the baggy pants, have childish toys and have the beaded candee bracelets, as waste of space candee sideliners. I don't dress like that to impress everyone at the rave, here are some of the reasons just to give you an understanding. It's a bit tough to dance in a pair of fuckin' jeans, you need something baggy if you want to be able to move freely. Also, they just feel nice. The "childish toys" you are referring to are binkies I assume, yes? Well, yes I also carry one of these. No, not because it's cute. But because sometimes I'll decide to roll, and I'd like to refrain from chipping out all my teeth. Also, the candee bracelets. I wear these for a couple different reasons. Here's one, They glow nice under the blacklights, which gives a cool effect while I'm dancing. Secondly, it's fun to trade the bracelets with other kids, because then you bring home a nice little memory from the rave. Don't act like we're all retards for looking "candee", not everyone does it for the fashion aspect.

It cracks me up to everyone spitting "plur" right before and after they scratch another's eyes out. Calm down and open your minds guys.

wanna know why the scene is fallin apart???....read the posts...

Ok, I dont know any techniques to dancing, and I dont care, I just want to know some good music... Any Sugestions!?

-- Anonymous, January 09, 2003

Ordinarily, I would recommend Ishkur.com, but I discovered today it is down for the indefinate future. So I'll try to make some very broad, subjective recommendations. Electronic music is a wonderful and almost incomprehensibly diverse cultural virus, and as such, it's constantly evolving, and is represented by literally thousands of varients. But here are some general suggestions and loose guidelines:

-- Anonymous, January 12, 2003

1. If you're like most people, you experience many different moods and temperments from day to day. So first decide what you're in the mood for- you have lots of choices! :)

If you're feeling:

*energetic and focused- neurofunk. a great example is Dave London *stimulated and left-brained- techno- I like DJ Misjah and Mistress Barbara.

-- Anonymous, January 12, 2003

*relaxed and creative- IDM, so-called "intelligent dance music" - don't worry about the pretentious name, it's just weird, interesting music. Boards of Canada can be fun, Autechre (aww-tech-urr) is cool, too. *funky- house. Junior Sanchez! or DJ Enrie. *stressed- drum and bass. very cathartic. one of my favorites. I can recommend Panacea, Stakka and Skynet, Teebee, Aphrodite, Cativo, 187 Lockdown...some of these are technically known better as "2-step"- a well-known and talented example is Adam Freeland.

-- Anonymous, January 12, 2003

*like you want to run a mile- trance. DJ Energy is hugely popular, and I enjoy his music. Also, Mauro Picotto is good, as is DJ Tiesto. *dreamy- ambient. The Orb is still classic. *philosophical- EBM (electronic beat music, a term coined by Front 242). VNV Nation has been a true inspiration to me. *angry- industrial. little true industrial has recently been made. it's epitomized by Skinny Puppy. or, for anger: *hardcore. not to be confused with "happy hardcore". I like DJ Myth-I- S, but he's hard to find...try Slipmatt

-- Anonymous, January 12, 2003

*open minded- trip-hop. many artists of other genres verge into this area now and then. Massive Attack is a good place to start. Or try DJ Shadow, Kruder and Dorfmeister, or even Bjork. *socially conscious- hip hop. Atmosphere, Company Flow, Sage Francis, Atoms Family, Cannibal Ox, etc. All basically part of the same loose tribe of highly creative collaborative artists. Incidentally, this has nothing to do with "gangsta rap". *smooth- acid jazz. Mark Farina is brilliant. *and I want to mention Richard D. James, AKA Aphex Twin, Polygon Window, etc. it's tricky to put a label on him, but he's definately worth a listen or two, and no two tracks of his have quite the same feel.

Hope you find something useful here! If you do, please pass that info along- that's how the scene stays alive!

i dont know why all of u guys are hating on kandee kidz... i've always been one and when i go to raves i go mainly to dance and have never done E... p.l.u.r. to the rest of u out there that r with me!

-- Anonymous, January 17, 2003

raves are limitless, which is why they are so special. anything goes. i dont get why these kids are so angry w/ eachother. its not supposed to be like that. just go have fun and be responsible. if you dont wanna do drugs, dont, if you do.... you get the picture. nobody is gonna make fun of you for dancin bad. who cares. seriously. just be yourself

I embrace my desire to feel the rhythm, to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow to feel inspired, to fathom the power, to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain, to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human. -TOOL

WELL everybody knows how to rave they just have to keep praticing.the best way is to go to the klubs alot and just listen to the music and FEEL IT.Everybody always suck at raving when they first start but if u keep on doing it and doing then u will eventually get the hang of it.Rollin is bad but its said that when you roll and dance u teach yourself how to rave. Then when you know how to rave go to the club DRUNK as hell and the alcohol will make you dance your ass off because u wont give a fuck whos looking and whos not.i mean i rmember when i first went to the clunb and i didnt know how to rave now 2years later i could say im pretty good. One more thing about the asian thing...im asian and yes i know that asians roll alot and they just sit there but ay fuck you for trying to say that shit about us...there is true asian ravers out there and the ones that roll just give us a bad name!!!!!so all i have to say is pratice pratice practice...im pretty sure if u can break u can RAvE!IF U NEED SOME MUSIC SUGGESTIONS I HAVE PLENTY SO JUST E-MAIL ME!

-- Anonymous, February 03, 2003

I hear what all u guys r saying about "feeling the music" but when u wanna know what to do w/ ur feet and hands, when ur @ a club or rave that doesnt. I have a hard time mimicing ppl, so if anyone has any tips or moves or anything at all PLEEAASE email me. duke.thebomb@verizon.net I have no moves at all. I know how to follow the bass, but not what to do w/ my arms & feet, and if anyone has anythin 4 me id appreciate it. Everyone here in the same boat as me, keep lookin, im sure well find someone w/ some specific moves to tell us. out.

OMFG !!!!!!!!! kandee kids and PLUR...... what is the world coming to ?????

You don't need anything but a beat and the will to have fun..... to hell with the drugs and alcohol..... I drink when I go out but I can hold my juice and don't get bomblasted.... follow me ???

And glow sticks are still in, guess that all depends on where you are in the world..... turning over this club in P'cola and we're tearing it up..... they love it when we get out there with the sticks.....

Wanna learn the right way..... me to !!!!! LOL

Anyhow though, to the question...... get ya some music..... I actually have more fun with some Astral Projection, check out Utopia... nice beat. Pop it in the box and sit your butt down... listen to it a couple of times before you even get off the couch... listen to how it flows, feel the bass because that's what you'll be goin off of.....

If you can, turn the treble down and the bass up, not so bad it sounds like some cheap ghetto ride with the trunk rattling..... but so the bass stands out..... get up and move with it.... shuffle your feet at first..... as you get into it start moving them more, throw in your hips and work your way up..... forget about breaking.... if you can do some of the old school popping you're good to go......

So now you got the beat...... turn the treble back up and tune down the bass and listen to the music again...... look for the rises and falls..... this is what you can move your hands to...... grab ya some sticks and play with them for a while...... just twirl them around about 6" apart...... do whatever floats your boat here..... you don't have to stick to one thing or style either..... it's your expression.

That is all for now Grasshopper...... when you can take the glowstick from my hand you will be ready....... LOL

I also want to thank some of ya'll for a good laugh this morning.... your spelling and grammar rivals that of my 7 year old son, and your suggestions lack the merit given to Pond Scum.....

HARRO PPL!

My name is ®Ånëßø formally known as KAYE! (The lil kandee kid) :D Well, I'd first like to start off by defending the kandee kids everywhere. You guys make us sound like a bad thing! :O ... Me and my friendzez are some of the funnest ppl you'll ever meet! So I don't understand why kandee kids are a reason to say "what is this world coming to?". 'Caz I fink that it's the only way to go.

Okay... Now for dance wise... (And just caz I'm kandee duznt mean I lean against the wall ALL the time)... A good suggestion is kinda like dancing 2-step... and well, move your feet in all directions (forward back side to side) with the beat of the muzik :) and then at the same time move your hands in all directions like your holding a colerful beach ball :) (this looks totally coooooool)... and yah but alot of ppl danse different... :) this is what i like... but everyone has their own style... :)

P eace L ove U nity R espect

To you all!

Get super high, and your body will just take over and do the rest for you... hhaa haha..

Move to the music.. to the beats.. when the music is slow.. wave your hands around move your body.. then move your hands faster.. in the high, to the sides.. start moving around more when the beats go louder or faster. Rotate you arms, bang your feet against the floor. Close your eyes, and don't by attention to the others.. your in your own world that you rule and it's time to show who is the king or queen../ It;s good to watch some peopel to get an idea..you will eventually get the hang of it.. but I'm no expert on this subject

Ugh...I`ve never seen such a close minded group of people! And you call yourselves ravers! First of all, the original question is `how to rave dance?` I think in general, `ravers` go to parties to get away from stereotypes and judgement and when people start worrying about how to fit in at parties, there`s something wrong! Dance anyway that feels natural! If you`re not feeling the music, try another style of music! There`s more than just trance or whatever type of party you went to! And as for all you people bitching about candy ravers..I`m a candy raver..I`m also a 2nd year university student...how`s that for stupid little candy kid? Really, it`s bitter people like you who`s breaking up the scene...it`s supposed to have diversity! I`ve been to a lot of parties in my time and I`ve seen a lot more people than just candy kids on drugs! I`m not sure where you guys all are but here in canada, we seem to have a lot more respect for the uniqueness of our scene! Every person that has replyed in here thinks that they a bigger raver than the last.fuck who gives a shit. the only advice i can give to u is keep going to raves and you will pick it up later it doesnt matter if u steal a moove of someone just as long as u dont steal all their mooves and as long as u can do the moove you are trying to imatate....(remember ravers are ravers and the rest of them are sheep)

There is no one way to liquid rave dancing. Liquid rave dancing is allowing the music to invade your body and take control and flow through you, when the music wobbles, you wobble; when it stops you stop. There is no "technique". Although some of the cool little flashy moves can be learned (much like breaking) individually, the essence isn't the same. You've got to have imagination and creativity...but most of all, you've got to feel the music. Some ravers can dance better than anyone when they feel the music, but ask one of them to repeat a specific "move" and they can't because, the flow is gone. Oh and you people who keep warning people to stay away from the drugs... The rave scene usually doesn't just recruit drug users, most of the drug users at raves were drug users before they ever heard of a rave, this isn't true for some, but most it is. XTC wasn't invented for rave use. But I will speak from experience, XTC increases your talent for liquid dancing.

All of you pole smokers are just a bunch of punks who like to do drugs and act cool. First of all, I'm sure only a handfull of you actually know what a "true" rave is. For those of you who don't, well back in the days, (the early 90's) when the real rave was a small little room in some hole in the wall filled to the hilt with about 100 to 300 people. THe sound system shook you in and out and everyone had a great time. Not like these days where a lot of punks just show up for the drugs or to rebel against their parents and try to see who has better dance moves. Who gives a rats ass who dances better. The whole point of going to raves is to let loose and not to give a crap about who blows who or who dances better. I know times have changed since then, and there are a lot of punks from the bullshit generation making the "true" ravers feel like outsiders. The point is, if you like loud music, the smell of vicks mixed with weed and weird outfits, then who cares how to dance at a rave. Frankly if that is what you are worried about, then stay the fuck home and crawl into your mommies quilt and eat your oatmeal while listening to your old Britney spears records if that makes you happy. PS> For all of you punks out there, I'm sure the intelligent ones know what I'm talking about.

Peace

im amazed no ones said what i'm gonna say but here goes.... its about the beats of 4. all the main parts of the track, are 4 sets of 4... so as you move to the sounds, you find a 'new' bit... a drum, a rif a ''dahhh dahhh''. anything new, that as introduced into the tune. mentally count it 4 times, then another 4 then another 4... as in gets towards the final 1, 2, 3... listen to the tune, because on the 4th beat, of the 4th set... its gonna chamge, and bring in a new beat... you can guess if its gonna go up a notch... and react accordingly, ie jump higher, grove faster, punch air rtc... or if is gonna slow, drop into a slow arms raied and crosing over type stance... basically, the effect is that your allways ahead of the tune, and also the crowd, by just a fraction or so of a second, but its enough to give you the appearence of being a natural dancer/raver... who really knows there stuff... even if you dont... err, mmmm bye !

Hello yous. Dancing is a highly individual thing, and its just my opinion, but I would rather have friends and/or partners that dance insanely but give it their all than some kid who is obsessed with orbing, glowsticking, etc. You have to loose all your inhabitions before you can truly begin to dance.

FOR RAVING: the only way to start is to go to raves,,,,, watch people .... join in ,,,, no one cares just get into it! make some friends and then have them show you some more envolved techniques. Also be aware of those who say they are the best...usually the best don't talk about it.... they show you! and as far as drugs go just stay away....im proud to be a sober raver!

FOR BREAKING: this requires loads of pracitice.... there are how to's you can download off of the net and go to some hip hop shows and watch them

yes, yes, 'feel the music...' i've never been to a rave (i'm about to piss my pants because i'm going to one next week) and i too want to know atleast a few moves. unless "feeling the music" or "letting it flow" is a type of dance, i'm not so interested...

holy shit theres alot of answers. . . well if your still looking for how to dance theres many different styles. . . this inclueds poppin, liquid, tutting, orbing, strobing, waving, candy stepping, house stepping, norditracking, glowsticking, glowstringing, "rabbit stepping" and just plain old dancing. . . well i read a few posts and the 2nd one or so says that moving ur hands around a orb is called orbing. . . this is not correct and orbing is when you have photons tied in a certian way then u spin them like crazy and make stars and symetrical shapes. . . glowsticking only requires 2 glowsticks in your hands and u can do many moves including tosses, stalls, traces, and mindgames. . . glowstringing is 2 glowsticks with strings on them that you swing. . . tutting is when u make 90* angles with ur arms and wrists resembling king tut. . . liquid is when u apear like ur body is flowing smooth n what not. . . therse to much to comment on but yeah. . . this website here has info on alot of styles of dancing and some video also. . . i highly reccomend this to everyone thats not a jaded asshole that wants to flame. . . well hope i shed some light on this topic. . .

LOVE THE MUSIC NOT THE DRUGS! ! ! this is what is killing the rave scene tho it was pratIkaly born out of it. . . now in california they are trying to pass a law that will make events and production companys shut down for good except for the UG ones. . . please enjoy the music and if ur going to roll be safe. . . a death is the last thing we need in the rave scene. . .

since I was like 7 years old I have been going to raves. Go and try thats all the advice you need.

-- Anonymous, December 16, 2003

I'm only 14 and I'm from southeast wisconsin, right by milwaukee. I'm still JUST getting into the rave scene myself. I have yet to go to my first rave, but I have a lot of friends who do rave. Like a lot of these people are sayin, just do what the music is telling YOU. I like the whole concept of PLUR, I think its great. The people in the rave scene (most of them anyway) wont care how ur movin, just as long as your bein you and respectful. As long as ur not all completely messed up on drugs, put on ur fairy wings and glitter, and hop up at a rave and start bouncing around being a drugged up little idiot, they wont care! Sure I do drugs, I've done e and I'm a frequent pot smoker. But I know what the raving is about. I've been dancing since I was about 12, and I just use my body man. It's as simple as that. I have common sense when it comes to usin the drugs, and the first time I step foot in a rave, man I'm not gonna show up on drugs. I wanna get a real feel for it, the respectful way, its about the music, the energy, the rythm and unity and love. I think PLUR is an excellent concept to follow by, like I said. All I can say as for dancing, just like a lot of these other people are saying, just get a feel for the music, and the energy, and vibes, that all fit you. Wear what you feel is comfortable, and go for it. Breakin is the shit i agree. I think thats great, I cant break and I love watching people breakdance. I think it's great how they use all of their body and just completely flow with everything around them, even the surface they're dancing on. Just be yourself, but dont act like an idiot. Practice in front of a mirror, just get the vibes flowing through your body. I dont think there is really a "right" way to do it, as long as your not being disrespectful.

What I can say from reading some of these posts is that it seems to me as the rave scene is going downhill...fast. I mean people calling themselves a "raver" "kandy kid" but yet have to go to there first party? Im sorry no one is a "raver", a "goth" etc. Labels are made for music, not people. Its kind of sad to read some of these posts.."im 12 but im not allowed to party". Ok partying should be made for ALL ages, but bro, 12? Like thats heavy, there's alot of shit that goes down at parties that just aren't suitable for a 12 year old. I think everyone should experience there first party first, and then figure out what kind of person they are ..and not jus what kind of person they want to look like.

let's keep the scene alive. p.l.u.r -+> I RaVe 2 ThE GrAve

-yellah ..one day I realized I didn't want to be like all these dreary and "normals", I wanted to create a world of color where everyone can play..one big party..that never ends.

It's about the music. Just listen to it, that's all it is. The fact that someone created a page on how to dance at a rave, and people actually teaching them, proves that all of you just don't understand raving. And it isn't a scene. I'm sorry to say that it'll never be the same. We have to accept that. As for the drugs? Some things do get better with time. Also, gays are a huge population at raves, so if you're a fucking gaybasher, Fuck Off. You're the ones who don't belong. I'm a fag and I go to raves, deal with it.

1.To dance liquid, hold your wrists together and break da hands at 90 degree angles. 2. When you do the arm wave, unroll wrist, hand, knuckles, fingers. 3. Know what the D.J.s are going to play, when. 4. When you bounce forward, backwards, side to side, know how far out your body will fly so you don't hit anyone, but don't look at where you will LAND! 5. It's hard to practice to most styles of dance because everyone's vibe is a little 'parking elf'. HAPPY HARDCORE is great to practice to. 6. Take drugs, drink Jagermeister. It's the ultimate fairy booster juicer, only dance on marrijuanna when a) theres no room to leave the dancefloor even if you wanted to b) you know the music style like the back of your hand c) yer battling a friend{not in a circle} d) if the the lighting is awesome 7. Breathe and stop. Come alive, show me what you got {q-tip} 8. Make eye contact with someone whom you are seperated by 12-15 dancers 9. give the dj props, s/he is the star 10. Chemical bros. revolutionized movement{including making 'ruff beats' acceptable in dance clubs which almost cost us blah blah blah} 11. huff and puff 12. smile, let someone around you know you are enjoying yourself 13. 8 consecutive moves are a rootine 14. when instructors are choreographing, they go "BAM! BAM! BAM!" 15. Practice glides 16. If you get good at glides, {James Brown good} (<--the Idol) move your hands the same as you move your feet 17. the basic for glides {moonwalk inc.} is heal, toe. toe at heel, push toe flat heel, bring heel up to toe {L,R} 18. The best motivation is critisism, the best sense is olfalctory, the best sweat is "I'll Show hir!" 19. Get an Identity, I.e wear the same thing until you have a repetoire 20. Slow beats fast 10 times out of 10. 21. the 5th freedom is the freedom to have your mind at whatever state you want it Ok 22. If you feel you are being judged, you will have many "cobwebs" to work through 23. Angels, Devils, modesty, humility, showooffynes and self are all on the edge of the tea cup that is your soul. Some of u people have a lot to learn, i havent been raving very long but i know this.

It doesnt matter if you bust out with all the best moves or stand in the corner with your hands in your pockets as long as your having fun. Thats what a rave is supposed to b about fun.

the basis of rave dancing is to let the music move u. dont go overboard coz if u stand there shakin like your having a fit then u will look like a retard but that doesnt matter.

As for the ppl bagging kandy kids and pill poppers: get a life, fredom of choice and self expression are an important part of raving as long as you have fun and dont screw up anyone elses night then your all cool.

PLUR is a great thing it's what attracts me and many others to the culture and what makes raves differant from other events, it enforces the loving vibe the feeling of being part of the Massive, the immence power of a community where egos are checked at the door, outside problems dont matter everyone regardless of age, race, class or sexual orientation is your friend and to b respected.

Anyone who baggs Peace, Love, Unity and Respect shouldent b at a rave.

sorry for going off topic but i couldent help it after what i read.

Dance, and how to, If you have every really went to a RAVE, back in the day, when they were more than just an event.....they were a lifestyle, a culture..more than a pill. They were hard to find and even harder to leave. Going to a party at 9pm and leaving at 6am just to find the after party till 12...and then the after after party, then the next party saturday...and on and on. If you have to ask how to dance, than your not feeling it. dance in any culture is more than a move, it is a feeling, you need to feel the music, flow with the music........feel the beat, then move. grove, it gives me chills just thinking about it.

Im from michigan, raves are done here. to many people went to jail in the name of music, i miss it.

just remember no matter how you move, as long as you feel good, your doing it right.

lots of love LUCKY

There isn't really a rigid set of rules for rave dancing--just start moving to the beat. Do whatever feels right. Don't think about how you look. Be yourself. That's what raving's all about.

-- Anonymous, January 17, 2005

god i cant believe this thread has gone on for FOUR YEARS! wow :)

-- Anonymous, January 17, 2005

It is great to see this thread going, and so many people with opinions. Rightly or wrongly all I can say it is a blessing the parties are still happening and there are people out there who still feel passionate about the party scene. I have been into the scene since it all began, walking home one night through an industrial site hearing music coming from a warehouse. walking up to the building rather timidly i was welcomed by a doorman and let in to see a crowd dancing, smiling, euphoric, moving to this pulsing hypnotic beat. feeling it through my body i started to move with the crowd, and soon we was all moving as ONE! this i thought was special, and to this day i still do. To me the rave scene was not just the partying but driving in convoys searching out a party, meeting in service stations talking, hugging & loving the people who you meet and listening out for the next bit of information to get you there and the euphoria when you did. And when the scene became commercial there was a great worry that it would die. It hasnt, its still here and pulsating like the day it was born. So my advice to the dance question dont think what people think, just do and feel, use your senses and soon enough you will also be moving not just as an individual but as one, one big party crowd.

LIve long, and keep the scene real. peace to you all. ;-)

dang pplz dont get so caught up on what other ppl think and juss move to the beat with ur body dance what u feel is cool and itll be right.
