rubber turkey legs???

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Alright, all you turkey raisers out there! I have a few 2 week old turkey poults that have been doing great! Until today...I noticed that two of them are walking funny, they have "rubbery legs" and their legs are sorta cocked funny; and they look pigeon toed in one foot. Any suggestions?? I am feeding them chick starter (as they are in with the chicks) and they get terramycin in the water. They are in a heat controlled brooder. Thanks in advance! Sissy

i have raised turkeys for years. wouldn't have put them in with chicks til they are out running around with the rest of the critters in the pasture. turkeys should be started on the medicated turkey crumbles. at least that's what i've always done.once they are about 6 weeks old you can cut out the medication part of it. also if you are raising geese babes as well, don't give them anything medicated,as it will kill them. laura
