EAST WORCESTER, N.Y. (AP) -- Traffic was expected to reopen Tuesday along a stretch of railroad track where two freight trains crashed head-on.

The two Canadian Pacific trains collided Monday morning about 20 miles northeast of Oneonta. All four men aboard the two trains managed to jump to safety before the crash.

Canadian Pacific spokesman Michel Spenard said crews were removing damaged cars Tuesday morning and fixing damaged track. He said the line was expected to be open by Tuesday afternoon.

State police said the crash occurred after the southbound train carrying 91 cars passed a red signal before crashing into the northbound train with 46 cars. Two of the four men who jumped from the trains were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released.
