Former President Clinton presented each student with an autographed copy of The Kama Sutra. He then held personal "motivational" sessions with each girl lasting up to one hour.

Bhangra with me like we did last summer

BTW, anybody know who is paying for this boondoggle?

Clinton inaugurates girls' school in India

By NIRMALA GEORGE, Associated Press

RAMPUR, India (April 8, 2001 6:42 p.m. EDT http://www.nandotimes.com) -

During a weeklong trip to India, former President Clinton dedicated a girls' polytechnic school in his wife's name Sunday at the end of a long, dusty road where screaming villagers lined up by the thousands to see him.

To the beat of drums and the swish of red scarves, girls performed the Bhangra, a peasant dance, to celebrate the dedication of the Hillary Clinton Center for MultiMedia Technology. Clinton told a gathering of students and local dignitaries that children in India deserve the same educational opportunities as Americans.

"I also grew up as a poor student in the United States. I became president of the United States," the former president said. "No nation in the world has as much potential to do well as India, provided every boy and girl gets access to education."

Pooja Saini, 17, who is studying computers at the school, said, "Now our institute is famous. President Clinton has put our town on the map."

Clinton's April 3-10 visit to India is meant to generate funds for relief from the massive earthquake that shattered Gujarat state in January.

Later Sunday, Clinton returned to Nayla, where a year ago he danced with village women and donated computers to a girls' school during his visit as president. Now the five computers often sit unused, covered by green and pink cloths bearing U.S. AID stickers - the community lacks the electricity to run them regularly, and the school doesn't have a full-time computer instructor.

Clinton was told none of this when he viewed the computer center on Sunday. The machines were turned on and one child clicked on an icon that brought up a greeting to the ex-president. "I love this place," Clinton said.

"There was no electricity the whole of Saturday, but when he comes, the whole day we'll have light," said Sachin Jalani, 12, just before Clinton reached Nayla. "I wish someone would tell him that. Then maybe we can learn computers every day instead of whenever there is electricity."

Chitra Rathore, project manager for a women's development program, tried to tell Clinton. Reaching him after a long line of women and dignitaries had placed so many garlands around Clinton's neck that police were hauling them away, Rathore managed two sentences.

"The women are still having problems in the village. We want to talk to you about it," she said.

Clinton said he wanted to help. He handed her the card of one of his aides, asking her to write.

Mohini Devi, 45, who met Clinton during his previous visit and spoke to him again Sunday, proudly displayed a plastic bag of photographs of her and the former president. Devi said he cannot be blamed for poor facilities in the village.

"He came as a guest last year and so will it be this year. It is the government that must ensure we get light and water," she said.

2/3 of these girls will go on to advanced degrees in computer sciecs, engineering, medicine and bio-tech. 2/3 of those will emmigrate to the US where they will obtain high paying jobs in Palo Alto and similar trendy places. They will then marry innocent American lads and corrupt them with the Kama Sutra. They will then hire Mexican illegals to do their yard work,

The net result will be a poorer India, a US with a greater disparity between rich and poor and a sex-crazed group of house-husbands.

Thank you Bill and Hill once again.

They'll also put some of us over 50 American programmers out of work. My company recently hired 4 more Indian women and 4 Indian men to supplement the 1 Indian woman and 3 Indian men that were already here. It seems like most of the people hired recently are from India. They now make up about 25% of the programmers on my floor. Too bad American companies only think of the bottom line and don't care about us American workers. Very short-sighted.

Lars, I'd guess your an old geezer nearing retirement.

We'll try to keep you in oatmeal, stop being so pessimistic.

Then what are you waiting for? Get yourself to Barnes & Noble and pick up a copy of the Kama Sutra, that way you'll be ready when the Indian girls appear.

See, American programmers just have to realize that continuing education is the key!

I already own Kama Sutra. I am one one of the publishers of the latest edition, sahib.
