I'm back! [Christian Material enclosed--open at your discretion]

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Well, I've had a few days to kinda do some think'n, rest'n and gomm'n around. The weather is plumb beautiful here the last 3 or 4 days. Temps today are in the 80's!!! Grass is need'n mowed, limbs needs pick'd up and I'm still clean'n up junk for the junk man.

I am back for a spell I rekon. I hate leavin this place as it's a good place to come and visit with family. The troubles that sometimes frequent this site are counterproductive I think and need to be ignored. My agenda is two fold. First I MUST tell all who will listen, about Jesus Christ. Second --is to help whomever I can with anything that I know and they want to know.

I will have in EVERY post I make some reference to the Christianity that I embrace and will attempt to label it as such. If you don't like my Christian witness---don't read what I write. I overlook lots of posts that don't interest me and some that I find after oopenin them--I ove on. I'm back until He tells me to move on elsewhere.

Anticipating an increase of MPG on our van to be DOUBLE what it is normal. Should be in the range of 40 mpg. Time will tell in the next couple weeks or so. I'll let ya'll know how it turns out. If'n it's good we will put up the instructions for ya'll to use on yours.

Enjoy this beautiful weather where ya'll'r at--even if it's not real good yet---it will be shortly. ole hoot. Matt. 24:44

Glad to see ya back Brother Hoot!!!!!!! What did you do to, a little swirling in the carb to make the gas vaporize before it goes into the intake? Can't wait to hear about it, since I dropped a 350 in my truck to replace the worn out 305. Boy, what a difference in mileage!!!!!!!! Uncle Jake

-- Uncle Jake (lulafred@cs.com), April 15, 2001.

Unk. Jake! What I did was to put vacume on top of the gasoline inside the float bowl. Gasoline is drawn into the engine via vacume-through the jets. When the engine is not laboring the vacume is at it's highest and demand for gasoline is the lowest yet--with more vacume drawing in more gasoline--it's burnt and wasted. If one offsets the vacume drawing in the gasoline by hookin a vacume line to a vent ontop of the float bowl, less vacume and less gasoline being drawn in to be burned. Does that make sense? Well, I know what I'm tryin to say but it don't come out llike i'd like it to. LOL. A valve also has to be installed in that vacume line that runs to the carb. It needs to be closed just a little. Needle and seat has to be in good shape or the carb will flood. I'm fix'n to take picts of this little fix and post'm on the web somewhere. More on that later. Hope this has helped. Some other things to consider also to help improve mpg too. Matt.24:44
