What is going on with the four people who were going to live off the land for a year?

I'm not quite sure what you are speaking of. The Pioneer Quest project in Canada is proceeding though they have had many difficulties such as a barn burning down. The project is nearing the final few months.

If you are speaking of the US PBS project of the Frontier House, the project doesn't start until in May, and ends after six months in October. It will not necessarily involve four people, but there will be two units of individuals or groups. Example, if PBS selects a bachelor, that will be one unit. The other might be a family of seven. Hence, two units for a total of eight.

The Frontier House project accepted applications until in January, and wound up with over 3,600 applicants. On their web site they have it stated that all applicants will be notified within the first two weeks of March. I have received word from an acquaintance that he was not selected. However, the friend that I applied with has still not received a rejection notice telling that we are not in the running. I assume that it was an oversight in notification but I still hold a slip hope that we might at least be interviewed. I will hold onto hope until the web site is updated stating that final selections have been made.

When my ancestors came to Kansas to homestead in 1886, they stayed with the ancestors of the fellow I applied with until they could get a dug out of their own constructed. I don't know if it was just a few days or several weeks, but our families have been friends for over a century now. Since my friend's wife would not go for something like this, my friend and I figured that it would be appropriate that we apply together as a couple of pioneers seeking a new location for our families. It was fun to apply and to learn of each others strengths and weaknesses whether we were to be selected or not.

If you are speaking of something else, I appologise for rambling on.

I received this from a PBS affiliate April 11th, "What's happening w/Frontier House? The families have been selected, will begin their training in a couple of weeks and the experience in early May. The web site will launch in May also."

At least now that I know I won't keep checking the site daily.
