Hi Kim, I'm a bit older but would love to correspond. I'm a single parent with a 17 yr. old son at home yet. My 19 yr old son is out on his own. I'm on five leased acres in Wyoming. Luckily this general area is irrigated in the summer so I get water for the land that way. I have a few rabbits, geese, 3 goats and 3 turkeys. Have some chicks on the way from the local feed store. Aracaunas...I've had them before and like the colored eggs. I'll probably pick up a few Cornish-crosses for meat birds and some Barred Rocks for more eggs. We are on a shared well...not a good arrangement. Old double-wide mobile home...but it keeps us dry, and is affordable. I am disabled due to Fibromyalgia....chronic muscle pain is how they explain it...but it's a lot more. Trying to get disability on it now. E-mail me and I'll send you my regular address. Enjoy your life. Deborah

Greetings from Michigan, Kim. We're in a similar situation but we do have water & electricity & the like, so we're pretty lucky in that respect. We just bought a 100+ year old farmhouse that we're trying to fix up, too. My goal is to be as self sufficient as possible! I am 33 & am married but we have no children & probably won't have any. Not b/c we don't like them, just b/c we aren't convinced the world's going to be a suitable place to exist much longer!

I just got my first 2 dairy goats (1 lactating, 1 expecting), have 5 chickens (adults) w/ a bunch more on the way from our local feedstore, too. ;) We also have 2 horses (pleasure) & I am an organic gardener & amateur herbalist. I am taking the Rosemary Gladstar herbology correspondence course to broaden my horizons. I'm an internet/writing junkie so if you'd like to correspond, please feel free! ANyone else, too!

Hi. Kim, I have a brother named Kim. I live in Ind. We bought an old farm house and we are now 3/4's the way of being finished remodeling it. I plan to live as self-sufficient as I possibly can. I do many things the old fashion way and I love it. I like to garden, grow herbs, sew, crochet, quilt, make crafts, write letters to my pen-pal and read. I homeschool my 3 boys. I am older then you but if you are interested in writing by snail-mail or e-mail let me know. I love writing and talking to my new friends. I always love getting to know new people that think like me or have some of the interests that I have. I used to think that I was the only one out there that thought like me and liked the things that I like but then I found the Countryside Mag. several years ago and I feel in love with it at first site. Take care. God bless.

Hi Kim!

I'm in central Idaho, just moved here from the midwest (near Chicago). I've got rabbits, dogs, gardens and 'the craft bug' - but no land just yet. I'd love to trade letters +/- emails with you!

By the way - welcome to the forum!!

Sue
