where do you sell earthworms?

A friend of mine is interested in starting a earthworm farm. However, he is afraid that once he starts he won't be able to sell them. Where do you start when selling earthworms? Is there anyone that is interested in buying some from him?

Earth worms are sold to fish hatcheries, pet stores (to feed the reptiles) organic gardeners to improve the soil, and to people who annoy fish. Earthworm castings (wastes) are sold to plant nurseries, gardeners, florist. Or you can sell to wholesalers and maybe break even. Worms here are 15.00 per quart. Punch ATTRA on the puter for info on raising them. ATTRA has info on anything to do with agriculture and is a free service from the ag. dept.

I have a freind with a gas station interested in some of mine when my herd reaches the size I want to maintain it at and I have extra breeders. We're going to sell them "on the 50/50 split".

I sell mine in several places.... as mentioned above, pet stores, hatcheries, bait shops... But, also direct through farmer's markets and livestock shows, plant shows, anywhere I go I have found folks willing to buy them. One lady even bought a pound of the critters to use in her potted plants! If he lives near a fishing hole, why not put them out in a cooler with a money jar next to it and a sign for the price? I have never done this so I can't officially recommend it, but most folks I've talked to said that people DO pay and not steal from you, so that might be worth a try.....
