EOS3 Eye-Control Calibration (Trouble)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

When I start the calibration secuence, the camera doesn't show any other blinking point after the second focusing point (it goes back to the first point) and makes a longer sound when the second point is shuttered, different from the short sound you hear during the first focusing point shutter. How can I set 8 focusing points (and 8 more for the vertical orientation) if the camera doesn't show any other beyond the second focusing point? What's wrong? Thanks.

If memory serves me right the long tone after attempting to set the second point is telling you that it was not able to calibrate and you need to start over (that's why it goes back to the first).

I had a terrible time calibrating mine the first time until I realized I had a light behind me that was causing glare in my glasses that the ECF definately did not like. I changed position and the calibration proceeded with no problems.

Make sure that you look at the lit focusing point while pressing the shutter button. Actually, you may even want to look at something in line with the focus point (a picture on the wall). Try this, it should help.

I agree with Ohad. At this point, I am thinking of switching to Nikon. I have wasted too much time trying to calibrate this piece of junk.
