getting new mortgage after repossession

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Repossession : One Thread

eleanor, in answer to your question about getting new mortgage. i did declare to new lender about repo & it was a good job i did as when credit checks were run it came up anyway!. new lender did not have a problem with this as originally we were only going to have mortgage in one name but new lender stated joint names would be fine despite thithe fact that this had showed up against me. before i took mortgage out i seeked advice from new lenders manager who req'd that i put in writing what actually happened & why voluntary repo took place i did this & head office accepted it & gave us the mortgage. new all i'm saying is that new lender is not a back street job & is actually one of the big lenders.....

The it's extraordinary that a major lender would give you a mortgage knowing that another lender had an alleged claim on your income/assets. (They are different lenders, I take it?) Why would a major lender do this? I'd complain to the CML (Council of Mortgage Lenders). At least one of your lenders is bound to be a member, from what you say. But that's just IMHO.
