Front End Loader

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

Using a old car chassis stripped, build a front end loader capable of moving perhaps 20 ton of gravel 100 feet and putting it in a pile. The bucket for the loader could be made from a 50 gallon oil drum with 1/3 of it cut away. It would pivot on each end. The lifting mechanicnizm could be hydraulic or by cable/winch. Our neighbor used to have such a device made from a old car and they called it a buck rake and they used it for gathering hay from the field and hauling it into the barn. I believe for show the gravel would be more appropriate.
