The time has come, as all of us knew it would, to remove the training wheels and move on to greener pastures.

Mr. Yourdon has asked that the forum, if it is to continue, be moved to another location, either EZboard or elsewhere and that his association with it be terminated.

As you may or may not be aware, there have been (ummm issues. yeah that's the right word... issues) issues within the sysop team. These issues have generated sufficient ill will that Zog, mebs, Wilferd, and Chuck have decided to exit, as gracefully as possible (which it isn't).

You will find us holding forth serving coffee, Guiness, Current Events, and pithy and not necessarily wise commentary at:

Our goal is not to "move the forum" as that will be up to Mr. Yourdon and the Cascadians. We should note that if you have any particularly Sysop-ish issues that your communication now needs to be addressed to the Cascadians, Ashton and Leska, as we will not be involved with this board henceforth.

Also, it should be noted that this thread is/will be locked after each of us has added whatever personal thoughts we might have, as it is NOT our goal NOR in the best interests of the Forum Proper for many valedictory, "Oh please change your mind", or other posts. Please respect our wishes and do NOT start another thread or threads for this purpose.

Our e-mails (for those of us who have them, as Zog's has been hosed for weeks)have not changed and we can be found at the above link. We are not vanishing, simply leaving the nest.

Okay-- not coming on the old board until its last Lady Logic days, I don't what mebs, zog, wilfred, and Chuck mean when they talk about the "issues" among the sysops. Who are the repressors here? Chuck? Zog? Or is it among the other camp, the lone Cascadians? Who was it that argued for such censorship lately? And, is censorship the area of dispute? What are they talking about in such hushed, dramatic tones? The quivering masses want to know.

Perhaps someone here can shed some light? You see, I'm not allowed to ask any questions over there, because these people are the sysops! And, it's against the rules to question their decisions.

Okay, so here's what happened:

When TimeBomb moved over to EZ-Board, they immediately banned Flint, Patricia, Jonathan Latimer, and seemingly everyone else who posted at the old Debunker board. This was done under the guise of making the board more civilized by removing the "disruptive" element. Many debates about censorship ensued, most of which can be found here. The sysops immediately quashed such debates, by locking and/or deleting threads, much as they have done recently. This led to the creation of the TB2K spinoff uncensored board, which was then moved here.

Meanwhile, with the nasty debunkers gone, everything was proper and civil, with the exception of some overly-vocal liberal posters like Hawk. Chuck threatened Hawk with banishment, prompting Hawk to leave and take up residence at the uncensored forum.

Now, with the nasty debunkers and most of the liberals gone, everything was proper and civil, with the exception of some non- religious posters who upset Ynott, prompting her to leave. Old Git posted her comments about the incident, asking that the fight not continue on her thread. Ynott, posting as Cattle Prod, continued the fight anyway, prompting Old Git to ban her.

Now, with the nasty debunkers and most of the liberals, and some of the religious posters gone, everything was proper and civil, with the exception of some religious posters, one of whom threatened iona with "stoning." This led to the Rules Of Engagement and also prompted several sysops, including Old Git, to resign in disgust. Old Git then started her own Currents forum which banned religious posters and many non-religious posters followed her there.

Now, with the nasty debunkers and most of the liberals, and some of the religious posters, and many of the non-religious posters gone, everything was proper and civil, until Chuck decided he was sick of reading the constant barrage of conspiracy nonsense and chemtrail BS. He wrote a wonderful post stating that the forum was not "Conspiracy Central" (a lie) and demanded that people start posting hard news or the Sysops would start deleting conspiracy- type posts on sight. This offended people like Read A Lot2 and mutter, so they decided to create their own TB2K Full Topic forum that was "free and uncensored." Chuck later deleted his idiotic post and nothing was heard about that idea again.

Now, with the nasty debunkers and most of the liberals, and some of the religious posters, and many of the non-religious posters, and some of the "free speech" advocates gone, everything was proper and civil, until the sysops decided to start posting as the TimeBomb Sysop Committee, and Data Junkie asked who they were and made a joke about them and was subsequently banned. This led to many more "free speech" advocates to run to the new TB2K Full Topic forum in disgust. Some even came here.

Okay, so now, with the nasty debunkers and most of the liberals, and some of the religious posters, and many of the non-religious posters, and most of the "free speech" advocates and that horrible Data Junkie gone, everything was proper and civil, except for a hilarious argument between Abby and Polish Nobility that currently occupies at least 3 threads on the front page.

Frankly, I don't see why they didn't just ban a few more people to set things right. It's obviously worked great so far.

There are many religious members at Currents--they just don't thump you over the head with their particular Bible and say it's the ONLY religion and carry on endless discussions about whether the End of the World will happen on Thursday at 10:21 am, or on Saturday, right as they get to the K-Mart check-out. I don't claim to know all of the facts leading up to the current dispute, but it appears that the essential items are these:

For the last several months, I've only been an occasional visitor to the TBY2K forum, so I can't really say that I understand the current atmosphere, environment, battles, squabbles, attacks, or counter attacks -- nor do I have any sense of who the key players, trolls, or spokespeople for various points of view might be. I have a sense that there's a lot more posting about quasi-fundamentalist religious themes than was true a year or so ago, but I don't know if this is at all related to the problem...

It seems to me, though, that if the sysops can't agree amongst themselves about common protocols, procedures, behaviors, etc., then there's very little chance of being able to present a united, consistent set of policies for the forum participants to follow. When I was actively involved as a sysop, I recall that we were all pretty good about discussing "serious" actions (like banning someone) and attempting to get a consensus before we did anything. The apparent unilateral nature of items #2 and #3 above seem to violate the spirit of that mode of behavior, and sets a dangerous precedent for the future...

Having said all that, I don't feel that I'm in any position to impose any kind of decision by fiat; I've known all of you long enough to like you and respect you individually, but I don't feel that I know enough about the history of disagreements and disputes culminating in the current situation to be able to make a fair decision. I do have a limited amount of time that I can devote over the next few days to try to mediate a peace treaty between everyone involved, if that would be helpful. If not, then I suggest that you elect an official "chief sysop" and let him/her decide how to resolve the disagreement. My hunch is that something like this will probably be necessary, and that the forum will then gradually take on a new -- and hopefully more cohesive -- "personality". (BTW, if that does happen, I would like it to be moved to a new spot on ezBoard so that my name won't be associated with it, and people won't assume that I'm intimately involved.)

I'm sorry that I can't wave a magic wand and create an instant solution to the problem. I'm happy to continue the dialog with everyone about this, but I probably won't have the time or opportunity to carry on a whole series of individual and "private" conversations, especially if it's the equivalent of talking behind someone's back ... wherever possible, I think ALL of the sysops should be copied on any messages related to this issue.

I will post this here. No one will believe me. I do believe Ed Yourdon is an aka for Ed Yardeni. I believe they were once one and the same Illuminati. Northern, do you suppose Disgusted will now go to another forum and gossip about the gossips here who are gossiping about the gossips at Currants who are gossiping about the gossips on other forums? Apparently the only reason Disgusted stays a member at Currents is to spy on the gossips and gossip about them with gossips elsewhere.

I've repeated gossip so many times it's lost its meaning. I HATE when that happens.

Second; "prefer the gossip about forum people here instead of gossip about them at Currants"... wrong...but, you see, you won't believe that, because you are a gossip, and it is totally inconceivable to a gossip that everyone doesn't gossip. It's the nature of the beast, I suppose.

Far as I'm concerned it's only gossip when you are repeating stories about their personal lives that aren't publicly known, like who is shagging who in private e-mails. All I've seen at Currants was quotes of public postings elsewhere that anyone else can see, repeating of interesting goofy remarks and occasional analysis of the cast of characters and how they fit in with the forum's demise. Many people are visiting all 5 spinoffs anyway, so it is hardly hot news. Just an attempt to figure out what is going on, since everybody seems to still be confused. Not being a cyclops I have no idea who is allowed in Currants and who isn't. Not my business.

Don't know who DCM is, don't know who your friend is, don't need to find out. If your friend needs protection, Unk's is the wrong part of town for them to be in up past their bedtime. You'd better yank them out of here. For that matter, TB2000 was nastier than Unk's in a lot of ways, since the self-righteousness was always meaner than the honest playing rough here.

Don't know who Here a Gossip is, or where their corner might be. You might be confusing us with two people who actually know each other. We both used your "gossip" term for the sake of argument, but I doubt that either of us considers it apt. Lynnie bought a house, that's as close to gossip as I know. But everybody knows that anyway.

Cyclops/cyclops emeritus update

As some of you are aware from either posts or e-mail, things have not ben sweetness and light in the Driver household for the last 5 weeks or so.

Now, don't nobody get their knickers in a twist over the way I couch this update, we aren't going to be hosting scriptural discussions etc....BUT there DOES come a time when certain things have to be told, in a specific way.

background. 2 1/2 weeks ago (on Sunday) Mrs Driver was packing her bags to depart for parts unknown. I was understandably distressed, and finally threw myself on the Lord (as all of MY attempts had been shed like so much water on a well groomed duck's back) and said "Lord I can not handle this. Please soften her heart and give me the words I need to make her stay. This one has GOT to be Yours."

And so shortly after saying this I was in front of Mrs D and said "I will have another job in 3 weeks." Well she stopped packing and just stood for a while. A few hours later she noticed that this episode had an interesting relationship to a VERY similar episode 48 hours later in her last BC Pill cycle. HMMMMMMmmmmm..... and she returned fairly quickly (over 8 hours) to rationality...

So I backed away from the Board. And I sent out about 40 resumes (over 2 weeks) and heard not even a thankyou rejection. This past Saturday, one of my friends told her and I that UH was going to be calling me soon. On Monday I left a message on his boss's v-mail but heard nothing. Things were getting a little drawed up on Tuesday when Mrs D mentioned packing the car on this coming Sunday (which was the rest of what I said. I said if she would stay, I would have the job or I would pack the car for her.) and I had to look hard at where I was. I proceded to spend some face time with the Lord (as in ON my face). After a reasonable time of prayer I was told to get up(!), and was asked if I trusted. Well I said Yes I do, Lord but I AM human and there is ALWAYS going to be some doubt, that's how you wired me. Just like some of the backsliding I have done. I was asked again if I trusted. And again I answered in the affirmative. At which tiem I was told to get some sleep as I needed it and to trust.

This evening at about 11PM my bride called me at work and indicated that my friend had talked to his boss and that I should be ready when UH's HR department called "REAL SOON" because I am being offered a PRN position. (PRN means whenever we need you in hospital speak). This dept has enough turnover that after the 6 week orientation this position could become ANYTHING from 36 hrs a week to part time or whatever, PLUS I will be elligible to pick op shifts in the ER. AND I get to write my own schedule, more or less, AND it's about 3X what I am working for per hour.

AS you can immagine, I am (visibly) sitting here at the keyboard but am not really sitting on the chair (there is at LEAST a yard of space under me....wheeee....).

SO, I am updating people and using this as a lesson that prayer DOES WORK, and that the Lord is NEVER LATE but RARELY EARLY!

I'll let y'all know when the "OFISHUL CALL" comes in....

That was her posting style and she has said the exact same things at TB.So, I do believe she's the real deal. Check out the archives under unex. Re:RAL's forum. I just want it known that I posted a thread there yesterday for the first time under a different handle, Tabby Katt. I wanted sincerely to join in because there are people there whom I respect. And, second, the subject matter is of interest to me.

I chose a different handle with the idea that perhaps some of the MAT baggage wouldn't follow. Plus, TK is more reflective of my "real" personality.

I made it clear in a humorous way that I was not afraid of challenging commentary and that I was set to fight hypocracy. I gave enough "clues" to those "in the know" to figure out that TK = MAT. I wasn't hiding anything, but I wasn't advertising either.

Well, you can read the thread yourself to see that I was attacked by data junkie in a sly way-- right off the bat. "Sly" is the operative word here. The method is to deride, ridicule and insinuate something suspicious or negative about those who don't conform or allign themselves with current popular opinion. Then, cover it with a santimonious, pious platitude- or better yet, a Bible verse.

It's interesting that the thread "Time Bomb Dies" is full of remarks about the intollerance by the former sysops at Time Bomb (Chuck et al) of the "Word of God." Also, there are some remarks about the administration at Currents suggesting that they, too, are intollerant of religion. The irony of this line of thought is beyond me. These people (some of them) demonstrate intollerance towards non-Christians and even fellow Christians, who don't conform, every day!- and have been doing so for a long time. Again, the method is to deride, ridicule and insinuate, then cover with a Bible verse. It's amazing. Shaking my head in disbelief.

Futhermore, I believe that level of exclusiveness is not only wrong in that it promotes a closed mindedness, but also it leads to an inbreeding of ideas that suffocates the intellect. The mentality of conformity wherein every one issues a pleasant, "Bless You," to those who have expressed agreement with the popular opinion, allows a sort of "cultism" to fester-- which is surely evil. Yet, regardless of how many ways I've tried to express this "warning" on Time Bomb, some of this ilk still don't get it!

Fortunately, this infected thinking has congregated among themselves at RAL's. And, I've noticed that Time Bomb is thriving without this group and without the former sysops, for that matter. Hopefully, they can "all get along now." I see no reason why not. They're constantly complimenting each other, deriding and blaming others for the troubles at Time Bomb, and driving nonconformists off. It should be rather pleasant for awhile, but I bet .... Well, we'll see how it turns out eventually.

Finally, let me say that ReadALot, herself, treated me kindly on my introductory thread there. The link is listed on this page, I believe.

My take on it. I still believe there is alot of government activity in these here parts. Lurkess had a very very interesting comment about this at the new hot stuff site on the current "why" thread there. Her comment was astute and very much in accordance with my observations (which are astute of course also :)

As far as the sysops that moved - I do not know enough nor would want to say even very specifically if I did - there was at least some compliance by one or more of the sysops with some of the hidden agenda around here ----- that is my take on it.
