hauling maunre

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

ok,, its getting close to time of getting manure for the garden,, I have to haul it from a friends farm in my pick up. I was laying a strong tarp down,, then tieing that to a tree and pulling away for fast unloads,, but the tarp is still buried under a TON of ice. I have plenty of scrap wood and pallets around,, any ideas on making a "easy unloader" ?. I still have the rope also

You had the right idea, but you tied the rope to the wrong end of the tarp. Securely fasten the tarp to the tailgate end of the truck bed, but tie the rope to the cab end of the tarp. Tie the other end of the rope to the same tree and carefully drive away. You will "roll" the manure out of the truck and end up with the tarp on top of the pile!
