Where do the machines built during the show go after the show? Are they for sale?

Channel 4's Scrapheap Challenge FAQ explains this:

They usually go back in the Junkyard pile, but a few of them (ie: the steam cars, the Meg's walking machine) have been bought.

I would like to think that the machines are kept intact after the show. I think a museum to showcase all the wonderful things that have been made, with a small explanation of how the show panned out displayed next to each machine would be nice. Also, if the show becomes a major hit in the U.S. like Survivor, I think I'll buy a machine or two from the show, for collecting. Allen

Part of the incentive for winning a JYW challenge is to avoid the penalty for losing. That is, the machines of both winning and losing teams are dismantled and shoved up the asses of each member of the losing team. The penalty is shown at the end of each episode in Great Britain, where the programme is televised without adverts. In the States, the final segment showing such indignity to the losers is cut out to allow for 8 to 12 minutes of commercials - an indignity to the viewers instead. Too bad, you Yanks are missing out on some ripping good fun!
