I can only speak for myself and my group of 9 die-hard JYW fans, but we all agree that the chemistry between Cathy and Robert often make the episodes! No offense to George Gray, but he simply doesn't have the British wit that makes the show that much more fun.

This certainly raises the question: Who's co-hosting the shows along with Cathy Rogers set to be taped in California later this Spring? Popular Robert or American George? Or possibly a third, and as yet unnamed co-host? And who should that be, if you got to choose? Anyone? Anyone?

This is just an idea, but what about having past contestants co-host on a rotating basis? I'd love to see Geo from the Nerds or Dick from the Brothers in Arms checking out the action and adding the commentary only someone who's been there could contribute!

Being a Califronian, I can knowingly say that the idea that they are going to do a show in California AT ALL is going to be interesting. Under the ever watchful eyes of entertainment industry unions, Cal- OSHA, and the literally hundreds of lawsuit hungry attorneys here in So. California, I have to believe that the teams will probably be extremely limited in what they will be allowed to build and use. Because you know, if someone breaks a fingernail here it can result in a multi-million dollar settlement!

As for the hosts, we still believe that the original Brits (Cathy and Robert) should carry it. Their wit and chemistry adds so much that it would surely suffer if they weren't at the helm.

It would be a crime most heinous if Robert and Cathy didn't host the show in California. Not everything needs to be "Americanized". Look at what a loser Christopher Robin became when he lost the accent. (Pooh should kick his ass.) Speaking of which, since the show will be in California, perhaps one of the projects they can design is a power plant. The state government sure doesn't know how.

I am relatively sure that Robert and Cathy will be hosting Scrapheap Challenge (the UK version of the show) which is to be filmed this month, I believe, in sunny California. Whether or not TLC will show it to us this fall remains to be seen.

I am also relatively sure that Robert will not be hosting Junkyard Wars since he will be occupied with the filming of the Red Dwarf movie when Junkyard Wars is scheduled to be filmed. I would certainly hope that Cathy will still be hosting JYW. I have heard a rumor--completely unconfirmed--that George Gray will not be hosting. I have not heard any rumor about a replacement.

That's just info I have picked up from surfin' the 'net.

somebody mentioned that richard karn would be a good american host... not that this matters but i beleave he is canadian. still think he is a good chose thought. you know that show norther exsposure. the charater named crise the radio deejay he would be a good host. intelegant dry sence of humor. what do you think?

I never had a problem with George, and I got to work with him.

I do think that someone with experience at just about everything would make an excellent host, of course that would be me. I think that a bodgers perspective would help the show. George just wasn't much of a tinkerer, a little car knowledge, but that's it. Robert was great because he butchered the English language as we all know it.

I'd like to recommend either of two tinkerers and raconteurs extraordinaire as potential hosts or judges: "Cap'n" Al Deuster of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (he builds remotely-operated submersible robotic vehicles there) Todd Johnson, a beam jockey at Fermi National Accelerator Lab (he builds machines that are, at the same time, immensely large and infinitesimally small)

Both are intense JYW fans, too.

I am American and was dissappointed with the American host. I think the brit is a much better host, has a better sense of humour and is more suited to the subject matter. He clearly had instantaneous rapport with the contestants. The American is a "spokes model" ie knows very little about the subject but can strike a pose.

Actually, I know exactly who the new host is going to be. It's a friend of mine named Rossi, who was on the second season of Temptation Island on Fox. He's a great guy, and I think he'll be really fun on the show.
